I just bought some Asics Nimbus 9s. I used to buy New Balance 992s, but I feel these are better shoes. Anyway, how long before I'm "supposed" to get new ones? I hear it's about 500 miles.
How long are good running shoes supposed to last you?
Most shoes are designed to last between 400 - 600 miles. Some shoes don't last as long as others. I personally find Asics a good buy in both comfort and durablity. They seem to last longer then anything I have tried.
Sucony Trigons, well just sucked, they were worn out in about 6 weeks. I triend some Nike's they did a bit better, the New Balance 1061's did me pretty good in terms of comfort. Right now I am trying some Nike's as the new Asics are not as comfortable as the older ones to me.
But you can't go wrong with Ascics in my mind.

Reply:yah, 400-500 is a good time to get new ones.
Reply:not really a set amount of time but when the soul of the shoes are wearing out then you change them. It just also matter how often you run.
Reply:500 is a good number, but it depends on how and where you run.
Some surfaces wear the shoe faster. You should look at them every week or so, to make sure they still have their soles and the cushion hasn't broken down.
Reply:Five hundred miles is the longest I have kept mine. Sometimes I get rid of them sooner because I run on pavement a lot. I am a heavy runner and know I am hell on shoes.
Reply:lot's of factors here... how often do you run? how far? how much do you weigh? where do you run? on the street, the trail, a treadmill? what are the conditions you run in? how often do you where your "running shoes", like do you where them for everything else plus running, or are they dedicated to just running? A good rule is about every 3-4 months, but depending on the factors you could run in a pair for 6 months or 2 months. I'm a heavier runner so I break the insides of my shoes down faster so I replace my shoes every 4 months. but I also check the condition of my shoes before every long run to make sure they're still in good shape.
