What is the difference between running shoes and other shoes?

Running shoes are lighter and designed to cushion your feet properly for a running stride. good ones have a significant 'roll' to them, made so your feet roll easily from heel to toe. If you look at the toe, its more rounded and the sole goes up slightly in the front, where a court shoe or cross trainer will have a squared off toe to make it easier to stop quickly.

Some running shoes also have support in the arch and heel to help people whose feet pronate, or roll to the side, while they run.

A good shoe store can look at your shoe wear and stride and recommend the right running shoes for you.

Reply:Running shoes are designed to keep you more comfortable while running and are lighter in weight and feel. They are supposed to help you run faster and prevent you from getting tired soon..
Reply:look at the weight and design
Reply:the difference between running shoes and other shoes is running shoes are usually lighter so when you run there not weighing you down. and other shoes like walking shoes there bulky and heavy and weighs you down when you try to run in them%26gt;
Reply:running shoes are for running and not for oridinary walking. running shoess have studs or spikes on the sole which catches the ground andhelp u run faster because of the grip thespikes hold on the ground.

Can my trainers/running shoes, be saved?

I have had my trainers for about a year. They are in good condition apart from the area at the inside heel, which has worn away. This leaves me with blisters on my heels when I wear them. What can I do about this, the trainers are in good condition other wise and I would prefer not to through them out. Can they be saved?

Can my trainers/running shoes, be saved?
hi,sounds, like a load of cobblers,to me? threes an idea, i bet a local cobbler is sat about somewhere, drinking Coffey, blighted with Monday morning flu, and he turns to his mate, and says, people dint repair shoes like they did years ago, throw away society,we will be next. partly answers David Bellamy's,question also.
Reply:IF YOU THEM FOR SPORT NO WAY.IF THEY ARE LEISURE TRAINERS BUY A THICKER INSOLE,THAT WAY YOUR ANKLE WILL REST HIGHER THAN BEFORRE,THUS NOT RUBBING ON WORN BIT
Reply:just buy some insoles from your local chemist cut them to size then voila your trainers will be perfect again good luck!!!!!
Reply:I say chuck them!!
Reply:umm- im sorry to hear about your shoes. There are several organizations out there that help with this. Try the salvation army
Reply:go to a shoe store and get an insole.

And while you're there get some patent leather pumps
Reply:Patch with shoo goo
Reply:There are heel inserts, like half cups, with a soft suede finish that can be used as the "counter" in the heel. They should be glued in, but you can try them loose. Foot supplies in most variety stores carry them.
Reply:You can buy little patches called 'heel savers' that stick to the insides of you trainers. But they don't last very long.
Reply:You can get (as said) inserts to cover the bit that’s torn away, at the end of the day the most basic foam packaging you get from boxes could do the trick.

If they are running shoes for running (other than just a mislabelled) then you really need to consider buying a new pair, the whole point of running shoe’s is to provide support on areas of your foot to take the pressure off your joints and hips and to cushion the actual run.
Reply:if you go to a local athletic shoe store they sell inserts.and they are cheaper than buying new sneakers.i know the old beat up ones are the best! they also sell arch supports which could help with the fact that you are putting so much strain on the heel of your foot.
Reply:Get some insoles i think thats what they are called.
Reply:wear sox
Reply:You can get some insoles.
Reply:You could put some cotton wool in the hole and then cover with soft fabric and sew into the heel area, it should be fine as long as you sew it in securely.
Reply:Try a pair of heel grips theyre padded so they shouldnt rub you can buy them from any shoe shop and theyre cheap too.
Reply:dont be tight!! throw them out and buy yourself a nice new pair
Reply:try made-to-order insoles from a chiropractor's clinic. they should help.
Reply:stick something inside them so that you dont get blisters

It's not a good idea to try to fix running shoes that are falling apart. You could end up injuring yourself. The best thing to do is to buy a new pair.
Reply:If you buy a pair of shoes-can't you save them for next season too? I would be very wary of running in a pair of shoes that are coming apart. You can seriously injure yourself.

If you simply must run in them-maybe you should buy some gorilla glue.

Does it make that much of a difference to use basketball shoes for running?

Yeah Yeah, I know...they're basketball shoes for a reason...but I reason that all you do is run in basketball; so wouldn't they work well for running?

Does it make that much of a difference to use basketball shoes for running?
They do work for running, especially if you have weaker ankles like myself. Teh high top basketball show will provide extra stability that you'll need while you're running.
Reply:no they are to heavy and high for running sneakers or tennis shoes are better and even better are track spikes. basket ball shoes are only good in basket ball because they have a flat bottom that grips onto the floor better on a rubber or cinder track you want to be able to push off better not stop and go and stop and go
Reply:BIG DIFFERNCE!! Basketball shoes will kill your feet and ankles. It will make you loose time durning the race. :]]

Go to your local running store and have them watch your run/walk and they will determine the right shoe for you. I have high arch's and I need inserts in my running shoes. Even if your not running you will need a shoe that helps with over or under pronation and such.

After purchasing a new pair of running shoes.....?

Is it ok to run long distances in them right away, or should I break them in first?

After purchasing a new pair of running shoes.....?
Break them in. Just use them on a few short runs, 2-3 miles before you go wearing them on 5+ runs.
Reply:running long distances is breaking them in but if you start to get blisters stop you're fun a little early. Just make sure that you have gotten used to the feel and support of the shoe and that you like it before diving right into a race
Reply:You should ALWAYS 'break your shoes in' before you wear them for 'a long period of time' ... and especially if you are 'running long distances' ... if you get a 'blister' or a 'sore spot' when you are running a long distance, how would you 'deal with that' pain and damage?
Reply:Typically if the shoe fits, you really should not have a big issue with runs. But if you are a longer distance runner 1/2 and full marathons I usually recommend breaking them in over a week or two of short runs. You want to be sure that they are not going to problem.

Reply:breaking in shoes actually refers to the cracking of the factory glue that holds the shoe together. Do this before you run in them. Wearing them to work or school, to the store and around the house will help the process. Have you looked into an after market insole yet? They are medically proven to boost performance naturally. Train Smart, not Hard

Which pair of running shoes should I choose?
Are you asking based on looks? Because I've found that with running shoes you've got to pick what ever doesn't hurt or give you blisters. And that usually doesn't mean the cutest ones. If you're serious about long distance running though, brooks are the best. They can even analyze your current running shoes and see what kind are best for you. Of course, I'm probably missing the point and being totally lame, so sorry 'bout that. Just ignore me.

Avia, if you can find them. One of the most comfortable brands of athletic shoes I've ever worn.
Reply:Personally, I really like Brooks running shoes.
Reply:I have Asics Gel Cummulus and I LOVE them. Very light and cushiony. My feet never bother me after a run.
Reply:i've been in the army for over 15 years and have tried several brands including nike, adidas, reebok but the only one that actually fit my foot is new balance. i have used them exclusively now for more than 10 years and they have never gave me any problems and they last a lot longer than the other brands. but what you need to find out is which brand better fits your foot. most shoes are of a standard size and most people do not have a standard foot, sometimes one is slightly bigger than the other one, the arches are different on each foot. if you can go to a specialist to get a proper foot reading, then you will have a better idea as to which brand you need to look for.
Reply:I'm partial to Saucony shoes. I get the Saucony Cohesion from Academy for about $40. They have great cushion like the older Jazz and seem to last a good while.

Good Luck
Reply:Deinitly try Nike. Trust me those shoes are perfect for running. They are so comfortable when you are running. And the good part is your feet dont hurt afterwards. I mean when i was in Cross Country those were the only shoes i would use.
Reply:I had Mizuno for volleyball shoes and they worked good I think it all depends on your foot though because some people have bad arches and stuff like that I would try to shoe on at the store and walk arouind and make sure it was comfortable.
Reply:I highly recommend New Balance running shoes...but it all depends on the type of running you do and what your conformation is like. You should have someone experienced look at the way you run and tell you whether you over pronate, under pronate, or if you run normally...hope this helps!! :-)

Is gel kinsel running shoes more expensive than gel nimbus 9 .??

Yes, the Asics (kinsei) costs more than the Asics (nimbus). The kinsei is $165 and the nimbus is $120. If you don’t care about the price of the kinsei and want to get it anyway, then wait for the new version. The price is a little hire, but if you are going to spend that much money then wait for the lighter one with more technology built in. on the other hand, the nimbus has always been a trustworthy shoe for many people. It stays very similar to its older versions and it is a lot cheaper than the kinsei.

Is gel kinsel running shoes more expensive than gel nimbus 9 .??
i have never heard of the "kinsel" but i know the Nimbus is usually about $120. The Kayano is $140, but is a different catagory of shoe.
Reply:From all stores I've visited, Gel-Kinsei happens to be more expensive than Gel-Nimbus 9. Mostly, a pair of Gel-Nimbus 9 costs around $120 and a pair of Gel-Kinsei costs around $165. It all depends on the store %26amp; from where you live.

Can I use running shoes to play volleyball?

??

Can I use running shoes to play volleyball?
Yes, you can use running shoes to play volleyball, however also remember that shoes are designed for their specifics...ie running shoes made to support your foot while running etc. And since volleyball %26amp; running are completely different the shoes are made different. Volleyball shoes provide lateral support and so on and so forth...gearded toward what volleyball players need.

If you are just playing to play, sure. It's not biggie...but if you are going to play competitive I'd say try and get volleyball shoes. It'll provide you with more stability overall while playing volleyball.

Adidas, Nike, Asics, Kaepa, Mizuno...they all have volleyball shoes. However, I personally reccomend Mizuno. I've had Nike volleyball shoes before %26amp; Adidas....but I prefer Mizuno's now. Plus, Mizuno has all sorts of different shoes for you to pick from (ie Wave spike, etc.)
Reply:For regular games, yes you can. Running shoes are good enough to help you move around and have some fun games.

If you are involved in more competitive volleyball games, when every partial second is more valuable, then a pair of volleyball shoes would be needed.

Volleyball shoes were designed to provide more lateral grip on the court, besides helping you go back and forth, while running shoes were designed to only help you move *forward*.

Volleyball shoes also provide more protection to your toes. If you feel soreness in your toes after playing two three hours of volleyball, it is time to consider purchasing a pair of volleyball shoes.

Asics and Mizuno are top (popular) brands right now for volleyball shoes, and some Mizuno shoes are on sale right now at eastbay.com (the online footlocker without tax charge). Sports Authority, and Zappos also have good selections and great service (including "free shipping both ways").

I personally wear Mizuno Men's Wave Tornado, and I have been happy with my purchase.
Reply:Yes, because you need it to hit the ball and run towards it. Also, you can use it to walk I guess.
Reply:No reason why you shouldnt.

Nike Shox - are they really good running shoes?

or do you know of a better brand? I run about 45 minutes per day and need much cushioning - I am a 165 pound woman.

Nike Shox - are they really good running shoes?
Nike Shoxs are one of the best running shoes for comfort and helps with pronation. If you think of throwing a brick on a pillow the pillow will slowly rise back into place, that's what air pockets do. With shoxs, its like throwing a brick on springs, which will set back into place a lot faster because the shox are made of rubber.
Reply:mhmm. they're great.

What colors of running shoes a hot right now?

What colors of running shoes a hot right now?
RED + BLACK
Reply:black
Reply:It really doesn't matter. When you run, nobody is going to be looking at your shoes. They will either be looking at your boobs jumping up and down or the sweaty, red faced look you get after running. More importantly, your shoes have to fit right. If you get a running shoe that fits wrong, you'll end up with more problems than not looking cute.

I've got high arches and unless I wear these ugly shoes with a lift at the heel, I get shin splints. I have to go into physical therapy and the doc runs his knuckles up and down my shins to break up scar tissue. I scream and cry and bruise up to my knee and walking with a limp is NOT cute. Also, if you run on shin splints, it's a good way to get a stress fracture and believe me... unless your cast is pink, it won't be cute.

So comfort comes first and foremost when it comes to running shoes. Style should be saved for heels.

Why are some running shoes called flats?

Flats are racing shoes, basicly they are as little shoe as possible, in order to be light and so able to give a fast race. They won't have sufficient cushioning or support etc. for training or for very long runs but some top athletes do notice the difference in their times. Injury risk is much higher in this type of shoes than normal running shoes, and only people with extremely efficient running styles should attempt to wear for any prolonged period of time.

Why are some running shoes called flats?
flats are race shoes for cross country races.....they are flat but sturdy and are light, which are used in races because they are light and not as heavy as a regular shoe.
Reply:The other contributors have described "racing" flats. Some people also refer to training shoes as flats. The basic distinction is that flats don't have spikes!

What brand of running shoes should i buy for the gym..i mostly use the treadmill & take the step classes?

you know, im not a label hore but I found Nike to have the best workout shoe. It offers great support and gives you lots of cushion

What brand of running shoes should i buy for the gym..i mostly use the treadmill %26amp; take the step classes?
Don't shop for a brand, shop for a fit.

Go to a shoe store that specializes in running shoes and try on several brands. Don't buy something because you like the color. Tell the salesperson the activities you are going to be doing. Walk around the store. If the store has a treadmill, try them on the treadmill.

Don't forget to take a pair of your own socks, the style you always wear for workouts. Stores will have a supply of socks, but you can't count on them to have the style and thickness that you like.

Just a note, most running shoes are not built to take lateral stress. If you are going to participate in activities that require hard side-to-side action, such as basketball or tennis, make sure that your shoe is built to take it.
Reply:i suggest nike. they are espeicially made for running and walking.
Reply:I wouldn't worry about brand but look for a good fit. Go to a specialty running store and try on several different models. Most of the time they have an in store treadmill so you can see if they are slipping at all.
Reply:I like SKETCHERS
Reply:For running go with Asics Kayano Gel. The best shoes I've ever worn. For step classes (or cross-training) you really need more stability than a running shoe. For that, you could go with anyone that has a 3/4 high shoe ... one that goes over the ankle to provide more latteral support. Nike, Reebok, etc.

What are good running shoes for a big guy? not fat.?

for a big guy u would probably need cushioned shoe

I would probably get nike shox or nike air max 360

Go to a local running sote like road runner sports

they will analyze your foot/step to pick the perfect shoe for you

What are good running shoes for a big guy? not fat.?
For spikes i prefer Nike but for training shoes i use either New Balance or Nike. It also depends on how your foot is if you go to a running store that is specialized in running they will get you perfect running shoes.
Reply:First I would suggest a good running store, if they know what they are doing they will watch how you run and make a recommendation based on what they see. If no such store exists by where you live. I would recommend based on what you ask, the ASICS Gel Kayano's have no equal, there is always a current year model, but any of the older ones are all awesome as well. For any large frame or hey for those fat people that happen to read this too, there simply is no comparison, great for people who are large with arches that are no longer perfect and need the best stability. They usually are not the cheapest way to go, but hey you only get 1 pair of feet to go through life with. I remember seeing them for about $110-$120
Reply:You will probably need a shoe with lots of stability. I'd suggest you go to a good running shop that will watch your running style and then pick a correct shoe. Fleet Feet is a good choice, if there is one near you. Even though they tend to cost more than what you can get discounted over the internet, it is worth it to get fitted properly, especially when you are just starting out. If your running style is to pronate, which means that your foot tends to over-turn inward as you stride, then they will probably fit you in a motion control shoe to resist against the over-turning of the foot. The Brooks Beast is an example of this kind of shoe that is very beefy and is a good choice for big people.

If you have a neutral gait -- meaning that your foot doesn't over turn or under-turn -- they will probably put you in a stability shoe, which as the name suggests ensures that you have a stable platform but doesn't really seek to control your natural stride. There are plenty of these types of shoes out there. I use the Brooks Adrenaline.

Just be careful about the strip-mall running stores that tend to put you in what looks cool instead of a shoe designed for your foot and running style. If they don't ask you to run in them, they probably don't know what they are talking about. I got fitted for a shoe once that had too much cushioning and not enough stability and ended up hurting myself pretty badly.

Good luck!
Reply:New Balance shoes are much more comfortable and tend to come in larger and wider sizes. I could not find a comfortable nike shoe. Im 6'2 215 and wear cross trainers because i like to do a combo of walking and running
Reply:If you have wide feet, go for New Balance.

Otherwise, my favorite brand is Asics-they've got great support and aren't too clunky and fit everyone well.
Reply:It really depends on the condition of your feet (i.e. high arch, normal arch, low to no arch). If you don't have a really good running store who can recommend a shoe based on a gait analysis then I'd suggest visiting www.runnersworld (love this mag) and do the foot test there to see what you can be "categorized" as and then shop for specific shoes. If you have no arch at all - I recommend seeing your podiatrist.
Reply:I'm 6'2@228. New Balance is the only way for me. They do wonders for my wide foot. Be sure to get running shoes. Cross Training shoes will be a little more uncomfortable for running.

Does Nike offer warranty for their running shoes?

I bought a pair of Air Max 360s a few months ago. On the heels, there's a soft rubbery material with sections concaving inwards.

On my left heel, those sections are now bulging outwards. I suppose it comes from the pressure of the "Air." There's no way this damage is a result of misuse. It's a manufacturing fault. The rest of the shoe is in near perfect condition...

So I was wondering if Nike does repairs? I live in Australia.

Does Nike offer warranty for their running shoes?
no they dont if u bought it u bought it good luck
Reply:Yes Nike does back up their products. In most cases you can return them back to the store u purchased them at, however, they may ask for original packaging it came in. Or, go online, look under FAQ's to see what they suggest or call the 800 number directly.

What is the best shoe brand for Running shoes?

How much do they cost? Where can I buy them? Why are they the best? What's your experience with them?

If you can answer ALL these intelligently.. I'll give you best answer. Thank You.

What is the best shoe brand for Running shoes?
I really like Nike Air Max 180s. I have tried Nike Shox, Air Max 360, and Asaics before. My mom ran with Asaics, but i definitely prefer Nike to anything else. I like the 180's because they offer lots of suppport, and are comfortable, but they dont feel like youre running with a ton on your foot. You can get them from Online, or most Sports stores and I got mine for $75.
Reply:I believe in Saucony, Asics, New Balance, Mizuno and Brooks. They have at least half century history in developing running shoes. I work for Saucony and they built shoes for Ironman. Our very own local hero Dr. Kua Harn Wei who did 10 ten days of Ironman believes in Saucony. It's a good running shoe with a reasonable price. I participated in long runs myself and I find it's a great running shoes without a heavy price tags as I wear of my shoes every 5 to 6 months.
Reply:it is oasis in my opinion..I used to run track and they are so comfortable. They are light weight and fit comfortably on your foot and they look good. they cost around fifty -seventy five dollars..but they are worth it..you can buy them from foot locker, sports authority major athletic shoe stores
Reply:Running shoes can cost from any where from 50 to hundreds of dollars. U can by shoes on-line, sports authority, and finish line are my recommendations. I personal like acis and Nike shoes. I have both depending on what i am runnin will depend what i wear. I personally like the comfort of the acis.
Reply:Ok this is my personal opinion, but I really like brooks running shoes for my trianing shoes. They are really comfortable and they can take a lot of miles. I were the brooks adrenalines which I can get for about 40 dollars but they will usually cost more like 80. I have been wearing brooks for about two years and they haven't failed me. The first place I would look for them in Eastbay online. They often have really good deals on running shoes.
Reply:Like someone already has indicated there is no Best running shoes! That will depend upon the type of runner you are: sprinter, middle or long distance or just a recreational jogger type. Go to a local "specialty" running store and have them recommend what might be best for your foot, running style and objectives. The best are usually, Asics, Brooks, Mizuno and Saucony. Normally Nike is not one of the best unless you're a sprinter or need a fast shoe for your racing purposes.

Reply:All the top brands are good (in no order): Asics; New Balance; Saucony, Nike; Reebok; Brooks etc.

How much do they cost, well that depends on the shoe from their range you choose and what your requirements are can range by over $100.

To buy running shoes you need to go to your local runnign specialist shop, look for running shop in the phone directory; ignore chain stores go for small local store, these will tell you what type of shoes you need and will let you try them all on.

No brand is the best because everyones different, different manufacturers will make shoes slightly differently and these suit different people. All my above mentioned brands should see 3-500 miles under usual use; so you need to pick what suits you.

Don't buy shoes on others experience, you need to go to a shop, get fitted for what shoes you need and try on shoes from as many different brands as possible. Pick the pair that fits you best, if you buy what suits someone else it may nt be best for you; incorrect running shoes can cause damage to your feet and lower legs as well as the hassle and expense of having to replace them when you realise they don't suit you.
Reply:It really depends on the type of running you do (sprints v/s distance) and the type of foot your have. Do you know if you over or underpronate? Are you right in the middle? How many miles do you plan to run per week? Do you run on your toes or do you plant your feet flatly?

Each brand has their high points and low points based on the above questions.

Personally, I love New Balance. They are a great type of shoe for what I do in them. They are durable and they breathe well.

I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for...GOOD New Balance shoes cost $100 and sometimes more.

I really suggest that you find a store that specializes in running shoes...not Footlocker, not the Finish Line. Those folks are just there to sell shoes. Find a specialty shop where they care about your feet and your comfort. They will ask tons of questions and have you try on tons of shoes and will help you find the right fit. They will also measure your feet, ask you to run in the shoes, watch your running form and make really good suggestions from there. I refuse to go to a chain store to buy my running shoes. I always go to my specialty store.

Good luck!
Reply:Adidas, Reebok %26amp; New Balance are the best brands providing performance based running shoes. You can get the best of the best running shoes from shoes.com, zappos.com, %26amp; onlineshoes.com.

They r the best bcoz these brands design the running shoes with well equipped technologies tat gives outstanding performance as well as comfort. For more information on the best brands of running shoes u can have a look at http://www.shoecapital.com/
Reply:The best place to shop for running shoes is New Balance. They will fit you, check your gait and the cost range is $89.99-$169.99. These people really know their stuff and if you end up having problems with the footwear, they will refund or exchange it even if you wore it outside.
Reply:There really is a simple answer, Asics (or maybe another shoe that works for your, but really its Asics)

Buy them at a specialty running store, where determine what kind of foot type you have.

A good pair costs about $100 and will last about 400-450 miles.

When Asics finds a good shoe design that peope like, they don't mess with it. Other brands, eg. Nike, have a problem with leaving a good shoe alone.

I've tried New Balance, Nike, and a few others. It always seams like the teamates who buy Asics at specialty running stores have fewer injuries, because they get a shoe thats right for them.

What to look for in running shoes?

I'll be buying my first pair, and i really don't know what to look for, and i don't want anything expensive. i run a mile or two almost everyday, and i'm not competitive yet but i'm hoping to be on my high school's track team next year.

What to look for in running shoes?
try them on and run around, you'll be able to feel how much cushioning there is in each area of the shoe. I like alot of cushining up by the toes and the heels.

its trial and error really. after running my whole life, Ive tried them all. Nike makes the best, Asics #2 Saucony #3 all the rest are crap
Reply:Look for good support, not too heavy, so you're not weighed down, but more importantly you don't hurt yourself.
Reply:Comfort and space....

you dont wana be rumming with blisters from the pain of breaking in a new shoe!
Reply:Comfort, stability, etc. Buy anything you feel comfortable in, but make sure theres space between your toes and the front of your shoe (since your feet swells when you run).

Also, be sure to run around the isle for at least 5 minutes, so you get a good feel for the shoe.

Good luck!

edit: to the guy above me, obviously you don't do a lot of running- cause space between your toes and the front of the show is one of the most important aspects of running shoes!
Reply:just comfort. Thats all that counts.
Reply:extra space is not good in shoes

Runners, which running shoes do you prefer? nikie or new balance?

my thoughts are nikie is for people with thin feet

and new balance if gor flat footed people...

i'm flat footed so what are you thoughts

Runners, which running shoes do you prefer? nikie or new balance?
I recommend asics, but New Balance (particularly if you are heavier or have an unusual foot size) and Mizuno (if you are lighter and not injury prone) are also excellent running shoes. I recommend staying away from Nike unless it is the Air Pegasus, their only legit running shoe.
Reply:asics for my trainers

nike for racing shoes

it just depends on ur foot type and how that particular shoe fits you, so going off of internet results can't be ur main basis.
Reply:Asics
Reply:Asics.....without a doubt.
Reply:Asics are definitely the best -- they work for people with flat feet or with high arches and are very supportive no matter what surface you run on. They're durable and very comfortable. When compared to Nike's, they're exceedingly better. But between New Balance and Nike, I'd probably pick New Balance; they're more supportive.
Reply:if you want to choose between the two mentioned, new balance. you should also look for inserts to compensate for your flat foot issue. you do not want to mess with your knees

buying

Are Asics running shoes generally a good fit, or do you recommend buying a size larger / smaller?

I want to buy them online.

All answers are most appreciated.

Are Asics running shoes generally a good fit, or do you recommend buying a size larger / smaller?
Well go ahead and buy them online. I would recommend getting them 3 sizes too small and choping the toes out, that way you know they will be a tight fit but not too short.

Or you could look at it a bit sensibly - go to a larger sports shop where they have several shoes to try. Try a few pairs on and see which size and make fits you best. You shouldnt choose running shoes for the make - choose the ones that fit you best, have the correct support for your feet, good cushioning... So try them out before you order them online.

Of course, I am not saying that buying runnign shoes online is a good thing to do after spending a shop workers time trying their trainers on, but thats a matter for your concience...
Reply:I have a pair of Asics and they are just a lil too big for me, but stay on. If I slam my foot, I can feel my foot slide a little bit, and i got them my normal shoe size. So try your normal size or 1/2 a size smaller.

Or just go to a store =]
Reply:You really need to try a pair on, then order or buy a half size larger. Your feet will swell when you run and the extra half size leaves enough room. If you run in shoes that fit exactly, you run the risk of having black or missing toenails.
Reply:Better to try before you buy.
Reply:Hi

Buy your first pair from a retailer and get them properly fitted.

Dave
Reply:I will recommend a size larger because i bought my normal size and they hurt my feet so i went back to the shop and the guy told me i have to take one size larger.so i did and i haven't had any problems since that.
Reply:They can be a bit narrow but great quality. I'd always try a shoe first if its for athletics, I know you gotta pay a bit more buts its worth lookin after your feet.
Reply:think it depends what shape your feet are, but in my case, they fit snug, if anything i would go same or slightly bigger tho, NOT a size smaller.
Reply:I have always bought a half size bigger for my running shoe. They do not feel big, they are more comfortable for me. If you know which shoe you want to purchase on-line, you should go to a sports store first and try them on. That way you will know for sure which shoe size to get.

Good luck and happy running!
Reply:buy them 1/2 a size bigger. I just bought a pair. I recommend buying a pair of Gel Asics.
Reply:I think they are fabulous. Try before you buy, but I would recommend a size up. I have wide feet and they are great for me.
Reply:Go to a really good specialty running store where they will spend time with you and fit you properly. I wear and LOVE Asics and yes, I wear 1/2 size larger then my regular shoes.
Reply:My mum ran the new york marthan in them and said they fitted prefectly. She bought a 5 and ran for ages in it, but it started to hurt her toes, apparently they were too small, even though they felt Ok, so she bought a 6 and said they were a good fit.

If you are running seriously I suggest you try them on :]

Is running in someone elses worn down running shoes bad for you?

yes it is bad for you i was in cross country and track and the coaches told us to change them every 300 hundred miles.

Is running in someone elses worn down running shoes bad for you?
yes. I have been running for 8 years now. Also, if you need some extra motivation, I'm selling a nike+ runner's gift pack that has an iPod nano, $100 Nike gift card, and a 30 min. iTunes Workout Gift Card through the sller: "aos-chapelhill" and ends on January 30th 14:27:38 PST.
Reply:well the person got a new pair of shoes because they were worn down and did not help them run but made them get injuries.. running in worn down shoes are bad.....one of the first pair of shoes that i got, i wore them forever but i wore them out to much and still kept wearing them,,,,i later got an injury because of that......so i wouldn't wear worn down shoes...go buy some it is worth it so you don't get an injury
Reply:ya think??

also.. running with someone esles scissors is a bad idea too :)
Reply:running in any worn down shoes are bad for you.

the padding and support in the shoes wear out over time,

and this can cause injuries

because your foot may not hit the ground properly

or it may hit too hard.

also, when they are someone else's shoes

it can be even worse....

their shoes will wear down where their foot hits the most,

and this could be different from where your foot does.

this causes the insides of peoples shoes

to almost mold to their foot.

if you run in someone else's old shoes

they may not have the support you need

WHERE you need it.
Reply:yes, get a new pair every 3 months or every 300 miles.

Why do running shoes have to be 1/2 inch longer than your foot?

I assume you meant a 1/2 inch longer than your toe? Your feet expand some when you run and if you bought a tight shoe you'd quickly develop a blister or rubbing against the front of the shoe's toe box. I usually consider buying them with a about a thumb nail of room available.

Why do running shoes have to be 1/2 inch longer than your foot?
you want to have plenty of room when running, you dont want to stubb your toes.
Reply:yes, at least 1/2 a size bigger than your normal fitting shoes. when you run, the friction swolls up your feet temporarly.
Reply:so you Can feel more comfortable when running. Its as easy as that .

Are puma running shoes worth all the money?

Are puma running shoes worth all the money?
hmm yea i like pumas but i dont really like sneakers that much. kangaroos and new balance (with the big N on them) are also cute.
Reply:You can get some decent running or cross trainers from your local payless and they will be just as good. If not, go to foot locker and talk to the staff their.
Reply:it depends what you want them for... i like them because they are very comfortable and stylish. they are pretty good for P.E. but i have Nike's for P.E.
Reply:I don't think so.. I had some cute ones and they fell apart after normal wear.. not cool...but for running I'm a saconny fan..they fit women's feet really really well and they are built to last.
Reply:If you're thinking about getting them for aerobic excersize or everyday wear, don't. The one exception would be if you just really like the way they look. The extra price is for the brand name, not the quality, in this case. I had a pair of suede ones that got scuffed pretty badly after about 5 wears. If you want to get something that's good quality go for adidas or Nike shox.
Reply:yes i love my running shoes they're the best
Reply:They're pretty uncomfy for running actually. I'd just get Nike's. But you can get Puma's cheaper at places like Rack Room Shoes.
Reply:no my friend has some but she doesn't use them to run with! So what's the point? I don't think they look really good so i think u should just buy regular shoes

Are there special lightweight running shoes that people wear when running in Cross Country?

Use racing flats. They come in spikes, but if you are running on pavement, get flats. My favorite is the Women's Saucony Grid Kilkenny XC2-Flat.

Are there special lightweight running shoes that people wear when running in Cross Country?
My best friend she runs cross country she said she loves the women nike free 7.0 running shoe. She said it feels like she doesnt have anything on and it protects her feet on ruff grounds.
Reply:racing flats are the way to go, no nike frees or spikes. you'll tear up your feet. go to a specialty running store, they'll know how to help. expect them to cost about $45-60.
Reply:yes

there called track spikes

you can get them at sporting goods store

like dikes

for cross country get distance spikes it doesn't matter how they look as long as they are distance or middistance
Reply:yeah. we call them spikes and i think that's they're formal name too. but they're only used for races and sometimes timed trials, because the soles are thinner and running on thin soles for long distances will bruise your feet. but yeah, spikes are really lightweight.. if you ever get the chance, hold a spike in one hand and a distance cross-trainer in the other... you'll feel the weight difference!
Reply:if ur talkin about cross country races u'll need spikes, cuz u want somthin to grip in...but if ur talkin bout 5k races or road races u want somethin called "racing flats"...good place to check that out would be eastbay.com

My friend loves Nike running shoes, how do I get her to switch to ASICS?+ She sics her dog on me when we run.?
Sounds to me that you need to find some new friends. A friend does not sick an animal on you and as far as I am concerned any friend that does is an enemy.

Screw that friend and what ever shoes they are wearing and get a large stick the next time the dog gets sicked on you and smack your friend in the damn head for doing it.

Most comfortable running shoes? I love Nike and Adidas but what is the best in your opinion?

I have had VERY good luck with Nike and New Balance running shoes. If you can afford to, you should spend the money for a really good pair of running shoes and ONLY wear them for running. Best pair of running shoes I ever had were New Balance 990's, but they have newer models now...

Most comfortable running shoes? I love Nike and Adidas but what is the best in your opinion?
Asics. http://www.asics.com/
Reply:New Balance have been the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I used to do 4 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill and my feet never bothered me.
Reply:It really depends on your type of feet and what type of running you will be doing. Nike and Adidas seem to have pretty high arches which alot of people like. Its also a matter of how much room in the toebox your prefer. I wear Brooks because they have great cushioning as well as a generous toebox. I've worn alot of Asics too, and they are nice as well offering a pretty large range of options.

The other question is, what kind of runnung will you be doing? Treadmill? Roads? Trails? Most major running shoe manufacturers offer options for all of these surfaces.

My other recommendation is to go to a specialty running shoe store that can answer questions and maybe even take a look at wether your feet pronate or not.

Hope this helps. Good luck, and have fun running!
Reply:New Balance. I work for orthopedic surgeons and they always recommend New Balance.
Reply:If you require running shoes for running (not fashion), then you have to try different ones to see which ones fit your feet the best. Nike and Adidas do make good running shoes but for some people, certain brands fit better than others.

I personally like New Balance because they fit my fee the best and are comfortable.

Reply:it's not really the brand, but the support that matters. one important thing is that the shoes supports the arch of your feet because this is where most injuries occur -- and also the shoes should support your heel also.

shoes that are lighter (less heavy) are also good because it doesn't put a lot of strain on your feet.
Reply:I have a pair of Avia shoes, and I love them, but I have geard good things about New Balance as well.

What are some good running shoes for running on track?

There are many different brand of shoes. All are good choices provided they fit your foot.

To pick the correct shoes for you. You need to know why type of arch your foot has(high, low, or none). This will determine whether you need a stability shoe, a neutral shoe, or a motion control shoe. You're pretty light weight so you would stay with either the performance version of the shoes I just mentioned, or the standard version. The only other would be the Plus, but that is for runners over like 180 pounds.

You should go to a running shoe store and get fitted. The experts will be able to find out what kind of shoe your foot needs and get you running. They should have you try on at least 4 or 5 different models and brands of shoes. Don't worry about what brand the shoes are. There are many different brands and what you're looking for is the shoe that works best for you. If it is a true running store they should have a treadmill for you to test each one of the shoes on. Look for a store that offers something like a 60 day return policy. If for some reason the shoes don't seem to be working after you run a few miles, you can take them back and exchange them or get insoles to fix any problems you might encounter.

The right shoes can make a big difference. They can help keep you from getting injured, shin splints, or even stress fractures.

What are some good running shoes for running on track?
any running shoe brand(ex. new balance, asics, brooks,...). for spikes(racing shoes) nikes can work really well, as do puma. if you ask your local running store about it they can fit you w/ the right shoe for your feet
Reply:I completely depends on the individual person and their feet. One shoe that fits perfectly could be completely wrong for the next person. Just go to a specialty running store and they will help you find a shoe that fits your feet and your running style. Hope I helped!
Reply:All major brands make good shoes, the best shoe is the one that fits your foot and feels good to you.

Go to a running shoe store and try on several different shoes.

There are different shoes for different events, it depends on whether you are sprinting, running middle distance, or distance.
Reply:Flats would probably be good. Any brand will work. (Asics, Brooks, Saucony, Nike, Adidas) I would recommend Asics though.

Why are running shoes colorful?

The colour of running shoes, more specifically the outlandish hues such as chartreuse, are designed to attract you, the buyer. Also, to differentiate one brand from the others in a sea of shoes.

With so much competition within the market, each company is looking for an edge in sales. Scan a wall of shoes in your local shop and initially your eye will be automatically drawn to the flashiest pair. Likewise, seeing a runner with flashy shoes piques people's curiosity.

This doesn't always pay off, as many people wear their shoes away from training, or are simply conservative in their colour choices.

We're also led to believe that technology can make each and every one of us faster. Colorful products that merely appear superior to the rest plays on this misconception.

The colour of a shoe doesn't matter in the least, as there is no standard uniform for running.

The vivid colours aren't as necessary as the reflective coatings are for safety. These coatings can be just as effective on a plain white or black shoe.

Why are running shoes colorful?
Mostly for aesthetic reasons and fashion. Some shoes are designed to match full outfits.

But in other cases running shoes are brightly colored to attract attention due to some cases of runners getting hit by cars when running at night or very early in the morning.
Reply:visibility and functionality, i have been almost hit by cars when running at night before. along with how cool they look, i currently have a bright orange pair of trainers, new balance 902
Reply:Running shoes don't vary much in function, so companies can market the same shoe over and over again if they change the color.
Reply:For the same reason people are so colorful. If everything looked the same, life would be really dull.
Reply:runners want to look as gay as possible and still be straight

What are the best running shoes for women distance running ? ?

Like most other things in life, there is no best, there's only best for you

Don't shop for a brand, shop for a fit.

Go to a shoe store that specializes in running shoes and try on several brands. Don't buy something because you like the color. Tell the salesperson the activities you are going to be doing. Walk around the store. If the store has a treadmill, try them on the treadmill. Find out if the person who is recommending the shoe is a runner.

Don't forget to take a pair of your own socks, the style you always wear for workouts. Stores will have a supply of socks, but you can't count on them to have the style and thickness that you like.

Just a note, most running shoes are not build to take lateral stress. If you are going to participate in activities that require hard side-to-side action, such at basketball or tennis, make sure that your shoe is built to take it.

depends how big you are really, and the quality of shoe you have, if you check around the sole you'll see their is a sealed joint all the way round, and normally that will start to give ( split along the seem of the joint)
Reply:it depends on ur shoes quality, the better brand ur shoes the more lasting it's,it usually can last u 4 mths 4 better quality one n 2 mths 4 poor quality.
Reply:as soon as they begin to bother your feet, by getting worn out... each make will last at different rates due to design...so change them when they no longer offer the desired comfort or support level.
Reply:oh lol no that was my sister we share an email address and she is really 3'8 so yea and she wieghs 48 puonds she was tryin ti be somone else lol

Could i use nike running shoes as indoor shoe for soccer?

you could but you shouldn't

every shoe is designed differently

running shoes whether they are jogging shoes or track spikes are made to take the beating of thousands of steps and/or for very short fast bursts of speed

soccer cleats are made to create traction to not slip during kicks and to make powerful, accurate kicks

also you might run the risk of the running shoe's sole falling off if you kick too hard during a soccer game (and that wont be good)

if i were you i would get a good pair of soccer cleats and put away the running shoes just for running

your aim, kicks, and overall play will prove to be better

hope this helps!!

Most people i know HATE nike running shoes because they seem to cause shin splints. You can try them but if your shins hurt you should change.

Whats better to use for running? boxing shoes or running shoes?

Use running shoes. They give you the right support and cushion so you don't get shin splints, stress fractures, and a whole array of other season-ending injuries. Ask your coach or the person at the sporting goods store, they will know the best running shoes for what you are planning to do.

Whats better to use for running? boxing shoes or running shoes?
Running shoes because they provide better traction, and cushioning.
Reply:Running shoes. They provide support, traction, cushion, etc. Boxing shoes, though comfortable, are not made for running down the street on concrete. You will end up with really sore feet. New Balance, Brooks, both make great running shoes.
Reply:I'm sorry...but what do you think???? Boxing shoes are for BOXING. Running shoes are for running.

Has anyone ran in Puma running shoes lately? How do they rate compared to Asics/Brooks, etc?

I was specifically looking at the Puma Tenos. Any feedback?

Has anyone ran in Puma running shoes lately? How do they rate compared to Asics/Brooks, etc?
I prefer Asics. Haven't heard anything really bad or good about the new Pumas but they don't come in my size so I can't wear them. People seem indifferent, usually "they're okay". Can't hurt to try, right?

Good luck!
Reply:asics are the best
Reply:I had random pumas last year, and they didin't work out too well, but I love anything within the asics series. They feel really soft and light. It's really your own choice, since you'll have to do with it for a while =P

i can honestly say, it doesnt feel different from any of my older shoes.

the asics r better, they're softer

Are running shoes made with vegan materials?

You HAVE to read the label.

Some name brand shoes are - as someone already pointed out - while others by the same company are not.

It is just something that you are going to have to really go thru the shoe and look for the label to find out.

Are running shoes made with vegan materials?
If you are a vegan, reading labels is a MUST!!

Ingredients for food, clothing, personal hygiene, etc.

There are TONS of sites on the Internet selling cruelty free products. Everything you need to live your life can be bought cruelty free. Even your running shoes.
Reply:You would have to check brand by brand because they use rendered animal parts to make some types of rubber and rubber is used to make the soles of shoes.
Reply:I know new balance shoes are vegan.
Reply:All the ones that are not leather should be.

Nike air max 180 ii ?

or

Nike air max 360 ii ?

What running shoes are better ?
360's I tried both of them and I did so much better with the 360's. I am a college runner and I need to keep my game at the highest It can be. I hope you can run better.

;)
Reply:The 180s are more stable and durable than the 360s. But the 360s are slightly lighter, but not noticably.

Overall, the 180s are a better value. but another good idea is the Nike Air Zoom Explosion Road, its not a well known shoe but it is super light, durable, and isnt over-prived like the 360s or 180s.
Reply:Air Max 360's.... but it's only worth it if you're a definite high-mileage runner. If you only run 2-3 miles at a time, a few times a week... you're wasting your money on either shoe.

Best running shoes you've owned?

I had a pair of Brooks a few years ago and I loved them. Durable, comfortable and light.

Pricey but it was worth the 120 I paid for them.

Best running shoes you've owned?
I think that Adidas makes the best show for me. I have low arches and the Adidas shoes are the most comfortable for me. I have probably owned over 30+ pairs of them since I have been running. No specific model, just the manufacturer.
Reply:Nike Air Zoom Elites by far...

they are the most lightweight shoe on the market, yet they are still very supportive, and I have never had any injuries while running in them.

Nike is a great brand because they recognize the difference between men and women and, though the shoes are sold under the same name, there are significant differences between the men's shoe and the women's shoe. Like the women's shoe has an increased arch support because women tend to overpronate more than men do.

Also, I recently went to the Track and Field USA national championships and all of the runners there were wearing the Zoom Elites on their warm-up and cooldown (highly suggesting it is their regular training shoe)

Miss them BIG TIME! Never had a shoe like them again.
Reply:I would try nike and champion but stay away from all theose other brand shoes

Reply:Asics DS Trainer. Awesome.

Reply:my best ever runners were a pair of Brooks "vantage", recently i have been a fan of asics gels. i havent seen Brooks around locally for a while.
Reply:I'm too fat to run now.
Reply:Nikes. They are awesome!!!!
Reply:THE Asics gel-ds racer VII. Their the best over all running shoes you'll ever wear..Thier lightweight and give good stability and comfort. If your looking for the lightest go for the Addidas Adizero PR. They weigh 3.9 oz! The stability is ok. Their made mainly only for raceday. But the GEl-ds racers are made for the entire year use. Their the best for training and 5k running. Go to onlineshoes.com and check out some other shoes. Just go to men's running.
Reply:Eventhough I am moving to more lighweight shoes.

I have owned 5 versions of the Asics GT 2000 series.

Best running shoes?
My favorite shoes in order are Asics DS Trainer, Adidas Supernova Classic, and Asics 2100.

I worked at a running store so I've run in about 100 pairs of running shoes. These are the one's that work for my feet. Doesn't mean they'll work for you.

What are the best running shoes?

I don't care about cost or wear. If I were to buy a pair to run in once, which should I purchase?

What are the best running shoes?
Okay, you're looking for running shoes. The most common mistake many go for is buying the coolest looking shoes. Yes, I know Nike Shox look cool because they have shox and all that but the reality is that they are not good for your feet. I think your best chance is Asics. I wear Asics and they are good for me. Asics provide the ultimate package of cushioning, comfort, durability, and stability. If you are wondering exactly what pair to purchase I recommend Asic Kaynos. Asics are very comfortable shoes. One of the most important things though is where you buy your shoes. Whatever shoes you buy make sure you purchase them from somewhere that can lead you to the right pair of shoes. Never buy shoes from a chain store like *****, Foot Locker, Scheels, or Kohl's. These stores may have some knowledgeable employees but your best option is to go to a specialized running store where they can tell you exactly what fits your foot. Running in a pair of shoes that doesn't fit your foot can lead to bad injury. Good Luck.
Reply:I really like asics. they let your feet breathe, have good support, and are very comfortable.
Reply:go to nikerunning.com
Reply:Nike shoes or spikes that has spikes on the buttom of the shoe to get better grim on the track floor.
Reply:i believe it is brooks running shoes
Reply:There are many specialty shoe stores that actually match you with the best shoe. These stores will look at your stance (usually both weight-bearing and non-), gait, and arches among other things. These services are usually free (at least where I got my shoes). They should be able to offer you a few pairs of shoes to try on for comfort. I have a pair of Brooks, but Aasics and New Balance also make good running shoes.
Reply:Personally, I like Aasics. Most of their models are pretty good.

What running shoes do you suggest for my uncle?

My uncle is 6 feet and 213 pounds with normal arch feet. What do you runners suggest for him?

What running shoes do you suggest for my uncle?
Well your uncle is a pretty heavy guy. So i would suggest a cushioned shoe like asics gel nimbes, or adidas adistar cushion. In Australia you can go to a shop called the athletes foot where they assess your feet on a machine, and then recomend the shoe right for you. They dont always say the most expensive one either . So seek pro advice to be safe from injury.

Glad to help :)
Reply:Nike, Asics, and Saucony...make shoes for RUNNERS..everything else is CRAP

What company makes the best running shoe?

it actually doesnt matter what company makes the best running shoe, it all depends on what feels the best on your feet. i know from experience that happy feet makes the stress from running much more endurable. this means that your legs and joints wont hurt as much after you run and you can run for much longer distances. many runners use the Asics brand for running because they offer a wide variety of shoes for whether you pronate, supinate, or have bad joints. their gel cushioning system offers a lot of support and buffering for all the impact during running. if you have a wide foot, Asics makes some models in multiple widths. my best advice to you is to go to a Dick's Sporting Goods near you and see what they have. They are huge in the running side of sports. They also have all the big brands in running, like Nike, Asics, Adidas, etc. because it's the new year, they are getting all the new stuff in at this time and are more likely to have your size in whatever you want to try on. Good luck and i hope you find what you need!!!

What company makes the best running shoe?
i meant to say Dick's sorryyy Report It

Reply:asics and saucony
Reply:there all good
Reply:honestly you would want to go to a sporting good store and find out which running shoes best fit your feet. the most important thing people look at is a name brand. it depeneds on what events, long distance or short distance youre buying the shoes for. New Balance, Nike, Addidas sell great shoes, but make sure you find ones that fit very well on your so itll limit the problems you have with your feet!
Reply:i think nike does

Are running shoes supposed to be like skin tight?

also, under the show, in the middle of the foot, is it supposed to be narrow? while towards the toes and hell its normal? what are the benefits of that? when i stand up my feet move towards each other, is that normal. please help. thanks

Are running shoes supposed to be like skin tight?
Well That depends on what kind of running you're doing.

If you're doing competitive running, such as track, they should be tight. The tightness helps keep your foot in a stable position, preventing twisting or spraining an ankle

But if you're just running on a treadmill or running to get into shape, then no, you really don't need super tight shoes. Running on a level surface with no real need for speed doesn't really require the tightest shoes.
Reply:Running shoes are supposed to be fitted in the heel and mid foot and roomy in the toe box. They should not be tight. This could cause injuries and blisters.

I'd recommend going to a running specialty store and getting fitted if you're actually going to be running in the shoes. If you're just hanging out in them, then it's not as big of a deal.
Reply:ok so ur feet are supposed to be feeling tight because they are for many reasons like helping u to not twist ur ankle and so on and idk about ur feet moving together
Reply:Yes they should be tight but not so tight that your foot is swelled up afterwards. But not so loose that they fall off when you run LOL
Reply:runningspikes should be skin tight. they should fit like a sock...they're very light and you want them tight because you'll be running so fast. if you're talking about just normal tennis shoes, then no...I wouldn't say skin tight, but you obviously want them to fit well.

Which running shoes are best for cross country?

Puma shoes because they are very light and confy. Also Nikie is good cause they support your foot better. They are not as light as Puma but they are still a very good shoe. So it depends on what you like while running.

Reply:How to choose a Running Shoe

The question about the best kind of running shoes to wear arises very often at our clinics and on our forum. It is really not easy for many runners and triathletes to make a proper choice in an ocean of information from the shoe making industry catalogues, ads, and press. The abundance of different designs around, all appealing to your eyes, makes the actual choice an almost unbearable suffering.

What kind of shoes are better for training? And for racing? For everyone at our clinics we recommend light weight shoes with thin soles. There is a certain philosophy behind this recommendation, which consists of several concepts:

1. The shoes should be light, so that their weight didn't deteriorate the feeling of the foot as a part of the leg. It means that the feeling of the foot wouldn't differ from the feeling of the whole leg, psychologically. Biomechanically it may affect the foot transfer in space and time: its speed, acceleration, and trajectory, which could all be deteriorated by heavy shoes. We can deliberately use heavy shoes for some special occasions of strength development, but not for a long time, and surely not permanently.

2. The shoes should have thin soles, with no cushioning at all. It reduces the weight, but this is not the main reason. First of all, it allows you to develop a very precise, refined feeling of interaction between the foot and the ground, while landing. Obviously, it is impossible to do this through a thick shoe sole. In a movement, when every hundredth of a second counts (the time of support in best runners is 0.15-0.20 sec.), the support time is a crucial thing for neuro-muscular coordination. When the signal for the foot to touch the ground reaches the muscles and makes them prepare for landing, it's already too late. And cushioning here is the factor which deteriorates timing and as a consequence, running technique, by increasing the time of support and due to this, loading of joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.

Second, a thick sole and cushioning increase the possibility of pronation or supination, if the runner has a tendency to it. Hence, it leads to injuries, and we'll talk about this separately.

Third, in Pose Method landing occurs on the ball of the foot, not on the heel, so the thick shoe heel structure doesn't make any sense. Even more, it reduces the freedom of the heel, and ankle movement and decreases the calf muscle stretching elasticity effect.
Reply:the best brand is of course nikes, my bro runs with his nike frees. i use the same
Reply:Air Max and Nike are good, but I think Adidas running shoes are best. Adidas running shoes have full-length EVA cushioning and a skeletal spike plate for lightness. They are really comfortable and support your ankle.

Make sure you get a running shoe that fits you well. Most athletes tend to say that getting a bigger running shoe size is best because it gives your feet a lot of room and space. But I think that having a running shoe that is perfect fit is better because with a bigger shoe your feet slide a lot and they tend to get a lot of blisters- eww. With a perfect size running shoe, your feet are more stable and you are more balanced when you run and your foot has direct contact with the shoe's supporting cushions.

Good running shoes cost about $80 to more than $100, but look around for good deals. A lot places have discounted good running shoes, such as Nordstrom Rack. Good and sometimes pricer running shoes always pay off in the end, unlike a lot of "good" cheaper shoes.

Well that's about all I could tell you about running shoes. Don't want to go on and on and bore you to death.. :) But I hope this helps ! Good luck in Cross Country !
Reply:Nikes are always dependable. =]
Reply:When picking a running shoe the most important thing is that it is comfortable. How it looks doesn't matter. A good test is to take the shoes running up and down the aisles. If your feet don't get pinched or start aching they might be okay. You also want to go for light. Big clunky shoes are just going to slow you down and make running harder for you. If you aren't sure exactly what shoe to buy, you can always ask one of the employees. Some of them do know what they're talking about.
Reply:Pumas :D.
Reply:Mizuno's are the best running shoes I have ever had. I'm on my 5th pair. They have different kinds for the way you run. I went to a store called The Fort Worth running company and they put me on a treadmill to watch how my feet land when I run. And that's how they told me what the perfect pair of shoes were for me. They don't really cost that much more either.

Reply:actually, there isn't a "good" brand for cross country running shoes. you should go to a place like runners roost or some specialized running outfitter and they will look at your worn out shoes and have you run for them and they will pick the shoes for you. people on my cross country team own mainly asics actually, not because of looks (they are quite ugly in my opinion) but because of how well they work with and help your feet.

it's crazy how much it helps to actually go to one of these places. i really recommend it!
