Could i use nike running shoes as indoor shoe for soccer?

you could but you shouldn't

every shoe is designed differently

running shoes whether they are jogging shoes or track spikes are made to take the beating of thousands of steps and/or for very short fast bursts of speed

soccer cleats are made to create traction to not slip during kicks and to make powerful, accurate kicks

also you might run the risk of the running shoe's sole falling off if you kick too hard during a soccer game (and that wont be good)

if i were you i would get a good pair of soccer cleats and put away the running shoes just for running

your aim, kicks, and overall play will prove to be better

hope this helps!!

Most people i know HATE nike running shoes because they seem to cause shin splints. You can try them but if your shins hurt you should change.

Whats better to use for running? boxing shoes or running shoes?

Use running shoes. They give you the right support and cushion so you don't get shin splints, stress fractures, and a whole array of other season-ending injuries. Ask your coach or the person at the sporting goods store, they will know the best running shoes for what you are planning to do.

Whats better to use for running? boxing shoes or running shoes?
Running shoes because they provide better traction, and cushioning.
Reply:Running shoes. They provide support, traction, cushion, etc. Boxing shoes, though comfortable, are not made for running down the street on concrete. You will end up with really sore feet. New Balance, Brooks, both make great running shoes.
Reply:I'm sorry...but what do you think???? Boxing shoes are for BOXING. Running shoes are for running.

Has anyone ran in Puma running shoes lately? How do they rate compared to Asics/Brooks, etc?

I was specifically looking at the Puma Tenos. Any feedback?

Has anyone ran in Puma running shoes lately? How do they rate compared to Asics/Brooks, etc?
I prefer Asics. Haven't heard anything really bad or good about the new Pumas but they don't come in my size so I can't wear them. People seem indifferent, usually "they're okay". Can't hurt to try, right?

Good luck!
Reply:asics are the best

i can honestly say, it doesnt feel different from any of my older shoes.

the asics r better, they're softer

Are running shoes made with vegan materials?

You HAVE to read the label.

Some name brand shoes are - as someone already pointed out - while others by the same company are not.

It is just something that you are going to have to really go thru the shoe and look for the label to find out.

Are running shoes made with vegan materials?
If you are a vegan, reading labels is a MUST!!

Ingredients for food, clothing, personal hygiene, etc.

There are TONS of sites on the Internet selling cruelty free products. Everything you need to live your life can be bought cruelty free. Even your running shoes.
Reply:You would have to check brand by brand because they use rendered animal parts to make some types of rubber and rubber is used to make the soles of shoes.
Reply:I know new balance shoes are vegan.
Reply:All the ones that are not leather should be.

Nike air max 180 ii ?

or

Nike air max 360 ii ?

What running shoes are better ?
360's I tried both of them and I did so much better with the 360's. I am a college runner and I need to keep my game at the highest It can be. I hope you can run better.

;)
Reply:The 180s are more stable and durable than the 360s. But the 360s are slightly lighter, but not noticably.

Overall, the 180s are a better value. but another good idea is the Nike Air Zoom Explosion Road, its not a well known shoe but it is super light, durable, and isnt over-prived like the 360s or 180s.
Reply:Air Max 360's.... but it's only worth it if you're a definite high-mileage runner. If you only run 2-3 miles at a time, a few times a week... you're wasting your money on either shoe.

Best running shoes you've owned?

I had a pair of Brooks a few years ago and I loved them. Durable, comfortable and light.

Pricey but it was worth the 120 I paid for them.

Best running shoes you've owned?
I think that Adidas makes the best show for me. I have low arches and the Adidas shoes are the most comfortable for me. I have probably owned over 30+ pairs of them since I have been running. No specific model, just the manufacturer.
Reply:Nike Air Zoom Elites by far...

they are the most lightweight shoe on the market, yet they are still very supportive, and I have never had any injuries while running in them.

Nike is a great brand because they recognize the difference between men and women and, though the shoes are sold under the same name, there are significant differences between the men's shoe and the women's shoe. Like the women's shoe has an increased arch support because women tend to overpronate more than men do.

Also, I recently went to the Track and Field USA national championships and all of the runners there were wearing the Zoom Elites on their warm-up and cooldown (highly suggesting it is their regular training shoe)

Reply:THE Asics gel-ds racer VII. Their the best over all running shoes you'll ever wear..Thier lightweight and give good stability and comfort. If your looking for the lightest go for the Addidas Adizero PR. They weigh 3.9 oz! The stability is ok. Their made mainly only for raceday. But the GEl-ds racers are made for the entire year use. Their the best for training and 5k running. Go to onlineshoes.com and check out some other shoes. Just go to men's running.

My favorite shoes in order are Asics DS Trainer, Adidas Supernova Classic, and Asics 2100.

What are the best running shoes?

I don't care about cost or wear. If I were to buy a pair to run in once, which should I purchase?

What are the best running shoes?
Okay, you're looking for running shoes. The most common mistake many go for is buying the coolest looking shoes. Yes, I know Nike Shox look cool because they have shox and all that but the reality is that they are not good for your feet. I think your best chance is Asics. I wear Asics and they are good for me. Asics provide the ultimate package of cushioning, comfort, durability, and stability. If you are wondering exactly what pair to purchase I recommend Asic Kaynos. Asics are very comfortable shoes. One of the most important things though is where you buy your shoes. Whatever shoes you buy make sure you purchase them from somewhere that can lead you to the right pair of shoes. Never buy shoes from a chain store like *****, Foot Locker, Scheels, or Kohl's. These stores may have some knowledgeable employees but your best option is to go to a specialized running store where they can tell you exactly what fits your foot. Running in a pair of shoes that doesn't fit your foot can lead to bad injury. Good Luck.
Reply:I really like asics. they let your feet breathe, have good support, and are very comfortable.
Reply:go to nikerunning.com
Reply:Nike shoes or spikes that has spikes on the buttom of the shoe to get better grim on the track floor.
Reply:i believe it is brooks running shoes
Reply:There are many specialty shoe stores that actually match you with the best shoe. These stores will look at your stance (usually both weight-bearing and non-), gait, and arches among other things. These services are usually free (at least where I got my shoes). They should be able to offer you a few pairs of shoes to try on for comfort. I have a pair of Brooks, but Aasics and New Balance also make good running shoes.
Reply:Personally, I like Aasics. Most of their models are pretty good.

What running shoes do you suggest for my uncle?

My uncle is 6 feet and 213 pounds with normal arch feet. What do you runners suggest for him?

What running shoes do you suggest for my uncle?
Well your uncle is a pretty heavy guy. So i would suggest a cushioned shoe like asics gel nimbes, or adidas adistar cushion. In Australia you can go to a shop called the athletes foot where they assess your feet on a machine, and then recomend the shoe right for you. They dont always say the most expensive one either . So seek pro advice to be safe from injury.

Glad to help :)

What company makes the best running shoe?

it actually doesnt matter what company makes the best running shoe, it all depends on what feels the best on your feet. i know from experience that happy feet makes the stress from running much more endurable. this means that your legs and joints wont hurt as much after you run and you can run for much longer distances. many runners use the Asics brand for running because they offer a wide variety of shoes for whether you pronate, supinate, or have bad joints. their gel cushioning system offers a lot of support and buffering for all the impact during running. if you have a wide foot, Asics makes some models in multiple widths. my best advice to you is to go to a Dick's Sporting Goods near you and see what they have. They are huge in the running side of sports. They also have all the big brands in running, like Nike, Asics, Adidas, etc. because it's the new year, they are getting all the new stuff in at this time and are more likely to have your size in whatever you want to try on. Good luck and i hope you find what you need!!!

Are running shoes supposed to be like skin tight?

also, under the show, in the middle of the foot, is it supposed to be narrow? while towards the toes and hell its normal? what are the benefits of that? when i stand up my feet move towards each other, is that normal. please help. thanks

Are running shoes supposed to be like skin tight?
Well That depends on what kind of running you're doing.

If you're doing competitive running, such as track, they should be tight. The tightness helps keep your foot in a stable position, preventing twisting or spraining an ankle

But if you're just running on a treadmill or running to get into shape, then no, you really don't need super tight shoes. Running on a level surface with no real need for speed doesn't really require the tightest shoes.
Reply:Running shoes are supposed to be fitted in the heel and mid foot and roomy in the toe box. They should not be tight. This could cause injuries and blisters.

I'd recommend going to a running specialty store and getting fitted if you're actually going to be running in the shoes. If you're just hanging out in them, then it's not as big of a deal.
Reply:ok so ur feet are supposed to be feeling tight because they are for many reasons like helping u to not twist ur ankle and so on and idk about ur feet moving together
Reply:Yes they should be tight but not so tight that your foot is swelled up afterwards. But not so loose that they fall off when you run LOL
Reply:runningspikes should be skin tight. they should fit like a sock...they're very light and you want them tight because you'll be running so fast. if you're talking about just normal tennis shoes, then no...I wouldn't say skin tight, but you obviously want them to fit well.

Reply:How to choose a Running Shoe

The question about the best kind of running shoes to wear arises very often at our clinics and on our forum. It is really not easy for many runners and triathletes to make a proper choice in an ocean of information from the shoe making industry catalogues, ads, and press. The abundance of different designs around, all appealing to your eyes, makes the actual choice an almost unbearable suffering.

What kind of shoes are better for training? And for racing? For everyone at our clinics we recommend light weight shoes with thin soles. There is a certain philosophy behind this recommendation, which consists of several concepts:

1. The shoes should be light, so that their weight didn't deteriorate the feeling of the foot as a part of the leg. It means that the feeling of the foot wouldn't differ from the feeling of the whole leg, psychologically. Biomechanically it may affect the foot transfer in space and time: its speed, acceleration, and trajectory, which could all be deteriorated by heavy shoes. We can deliberately use heavy shoes for some special occasions of strength development, but not for a long time, and surely not permanently.

2. The shoes should have thin soles, with no cushioning at all. It reduces the weight, but this is not the main reason. First of all, it allows you to develop a very precise, refined feeling of interaction between the foot and the ground, while landing. Obviously, it is impossible to do this through a thick shoe sole. In a movement, when every hundredth of a second counts (the time of support in best runners is 0.15-0.20 sec.), the support time is a crucial thing for neuro-muscular coordination. When the signal for the foot to touch the ground reaches the muscles and makes them prepare for landing, it's already too late. And cushioning here is the factor which deteriorates timing and as a consequence, running technique, by increasing the time of support and due to this, loading of joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles.

Second, a thick sole and cushioning increase the possibility of pronation or supination, if the runner has a tendency to it. Hence, it leads to injuries, and we'll talk about this separately.

Third, in Pose Method landing occurs on the ball of the foot, not on the heel, so the thick shoe heel structure doesn't make any sense. Even more, it reduces the freedom of the heel, and ankle movement and decreases the calf muscle stretching elasticity effect.
Reply:the best brand is of course nikes, my bro runs with his nike frees. i use the same
Reply:Air Max and Nike are good, but I think Adidas running shoes are best. Adidas running shoes have full-length EVA cushioning and a skeletal spike plate for lightness. They are really comfortable and support your ankle.

Make sure you get a running shoe that fits you well. Most athletes tend to say that getting a bigger running shoe size is best because it gives your feet a lot of room and space. But I think that having a running shoe that is perfect fit is better because with a bigger shoe your feet slide a lot and they tend to get a lot of blisters- eww. With a perfect size running shoe, your feet are more stable and you are more balanced when you run and your foot has direct contact with the shoe's supporting cushions.

Good running shoes cost about $80 to more than $100, but look around for good deals. A lot places have discounted good running shoes, such as Nordstrom Rack. Good and sometimes pricer running shoes always pay off in the end, unlike a lot of "good" cheaper shoes.

Well that's about all I could tell you about running shoes. Don't want to go on and on and bore you to death.. :) But I hope this helps ! Good luck in Cross Country !
Reply:Nikes are always dependable. =]
Reply:When picking a running shoe the most important thing is that it is comfortable. How it looks doesn't matter. A good test is to take the shoes running up and down the aisles. If your feet don't get pinched or start aching they might be okay. You also want to go for light. Big clunky shoes are just going to slow you down and make running harder for you. If you aren't sure exactly what shoe to buy, you can always ask one of the employees. Some of them do know what they're talking about.
Reply:Pumas :D.
Reply:Mizuno's are the best running shoes I have ever had. I'm on my 5th pair. They have different kinds for the way you run. I went to a store called The Fort Worth running company and they put me on a treadmill to watch how my feet land when I run. And that's how they told me what the perfect pair of shoes were for me. They don't really cost that much more either.

Reply:you can... but i don't really see the point

they're just going to get dirty again

and besides, having dirty shoes makes you look tough!
Reply:Yeah, but it'll dissolve the glue and make the sole harder and less flexible, easier to crack.
Reply:I wash mine all the time. No bleach then stuff them with old newspaper or old towels to absorb some of the water maybe an hour. Then sit over night to dry.
Reply:no because it will ruin the shoes and also the washing machine
Reply:its better to hand wash them - they get cleaned better even though the job is much tougher!

Reply:yes as long as they do not run out
Reply:yes
Reply:yes you can. make sure you use the right detergent or bleach
Reply:yes i wash my trainers when they get really muddy, wash theme on 30 degrees by theme self and there be fine
Reply:I put mine in the washing machine, don't do it any higher Temp than 40 to be safe, if you place them inside a pillow case it will help to avoid any damage to your washing machine drum
Reply:i wouldnt, it messes them up. just wash them by hand in the sink and let them air dry.
Reply:Yes but don't put them in the dryer. Just let them air dry. The dryer gets too hot for the soles of your shoes and can ruin them.
Reply:yes but if you're shoes are dirty make sure that you put it on warm/warm or warm/cold temperature for it will not be cleaned otherwise, and don't wash it with your clothes or with too many shoes, and CAUTION: make sure you never throw it inside with mud, NEVER!! that will ruin your laundry machine forever, take all the mud and dirts that are stuck to it off! this is highly recommended , and then after you do that wash it with a lot of laundry detergent, definitly spin them after washing and don't dry them with heat, that will ruin your shoes , hang them in your backyard on the rope, in the sunlight, and make sure not to put bleach in it. never! don't forget the pillow bag, hope this was helpful.
Reply:I really wouldn't . If you want to, go ahead. It might mess them up depending on what type of shoe it is. DO NOT put them in the dryer EVER. It will disconfigure the shoe.
Reply:yeah i'm pretty sure you can. All my friends did it. But, yes theres a but. I was in camp once and i think they put my shoes in the washing machine and the side ripped a bit! However if you're a risk taker, then go for it! :)

Reply:no...it will damage it.

try running it under water to get rid of the dirt, then soak 'em in liquid detergent.

give it a good scrub.

if tat doesnt work, then it's time to get a new shoe or consider damaging it a lil by putting it in the washing machine.
Reply:I always wash my trainers in the machine I put them in a pillow case first.
Reply:i do
Reply:Ya I suppose.

I just spray them in my laundry room sink, use a scrub brush and maybe some soap, and a bleach pen on the really bad spots. To dry them stuff newspaper in them and set them on/by a vent.
Reply:Yes you can they will lose there shape a little but the best way to get them clean and not bounce back and forth agains the side is to wash them with some towels and they will work as washing scrubbers. If your shoes wont sink just wrap the towles around the shoes or try to sing the shoes with the towels. I hope this was helpful. P.S. to dry them in the dry use some dry towels as padding or else they will be really loud .
Reply:Yes you can!

Which running shoes are better - Nike, Adidas, Reebok?

Something comfortable, doesn't hurt the big toe after long wear.

Which running shoes are better - Nike, Adidas, Reebok?
widepart provided a great answer - the best shoe is the one that fits your specific needs. Weight, body type, %26amp; foot characteristics will all come into play. Find a reputable running store with trained staff (not a chain store in the mall) A good store will let you run outside or on a treadmill to try them out. I would also suggest that you go to runnersworld.com and select Shoes %26amp; Gear. This will provide great information on what goes into selecting the proper running shoes, and the ShowFinder will help you determine which shoes might work best for you. Another good site for information is roadrunnersports.com Good Luck!
Reply:Well, I think adidas is a narrow fit and dont rate them for running in.. Nike are better and do some good trainers. Reebok are very comfortable, a little heavier on average and are better for wider feet? But I would highly rate asics gel trainers. I do a lot of running and gym work and find these brilliant. They are light, nice fitting and look good and offer excellent arch support! Another good make for running is Saucony.. If you go to go a dedicated running shop they will measure your feet and go and buy the trainers cheaper elsewhere! Happy running!
Reply:DO NOT TAKE ANY ADVICE ABOUT A PARTICULAR BRAND!

The best thing to do is to find a store that serious and professional runners go to. Go there - explain what you want and let them advise you and fit you. The good stores of this type have fully trained staff and most are runners and know all about the shoes they sell and know how to fit you properly.

Reply:Adidas. Nike is kinda hard, like if you wear it for track, your toes hurt a little....well it depends what kind you are wearing. Adidas's are more softer, if you get a size 1 more bigger than your normal size. I really recomend the white one with 3 black streaks on the side. It's your choice, but i like those. I use em' for track.
Reply:well i can only speak for nike there comfortable and if any shoe starts to hurt ask a sporting store

My running shoes are extremely dirty can i throw them in the washing machine?

yes

My running shoes are extremely dirty can i throw them in the washing machine?
YES YOU CAN! i do it all the time!
Reply:no , they mite shrink , spray them with a hose
Reply:Yes you can it will not hurt them do not put them in with clothes get some rags and throw them in the washer with your shoes

=D
Reply:yes you can, with dishwashing liquid and laundry soap.
Reply:u can put em in there or u can just hose
Reply:Yes. On cold/hot would be best maybe even cold/cold. Don't over do them maybe 15 min. at the most.

Keep checking them every 5 min. or so.
Reply:Yes I've done this before my converse worked perfect I'm sure running sgoes will work too just put it by itsself
Reply:Yes, you can.
Reply:yes i do it all the time and it works really good!

Here's a link to washing them. Simple. Good luck!

Nike Running Shoes Are The Best. Why?

Depends of your needs. My wife uses Mizuno for running Marathons.

Nike Running Shoes Are The Best. Why?
Actually, there are a lot of better running shoes than Nike. What kind of running?

For marathons or long distances, Brooks are supreme. For track, New Balance are excellent.
Reply:They only work for certain types of feet specifically slim feet
Reply:No definitely not. Go with ASICS.
Reply:they're not they're actually some of the worst

Nike running shoes are for people who say they work but really don't.... or for people who just want to look good

if you want to be a champion you'd go with asics or new balance they are stable and give you the support you need for running.
Reply:They are one of the best - but what about these:

Adidas, Fila, Lotto, Prince, Yonex, Babolat, Head, New Balance, Reebok, Diadora, K-Swiss, and Wilson

Nike has been around since 1964 and thousands upon thousands of athletes compete in them. They are trendy/stylish and well made.

Nike - Just Do It!!!
Reply:hmm...Nike shoes are nice for casual wear...but I dont think they are the best running shoes...sorry...I like New Balance better...
Reply:they aren't the best. some say asis or reebok is the best. it's all opinion tho.
Reply:actually i really like nike frees 5.0 and 7.0s theyre super comfy and really light and i use them everytime i run and work out.
Reply:it is just your opinion
Reply:Well No there not.

Track Running Shoes; please help %26gt;.%26lt;?
Wow, it's been years since I was running competitively, I'm surprised to see that Asics is still using that gel thing.

There's not enough info to decide which one is best for you. The pitch for the 1120 and 1130 seem to emphasize stability, especially the 1130. If you have overpronation problems, stability is important. If you are a heavier runner, you may be more apt to overpronate. But there are other factors also, like the way your legs are built and your running form. For example I have somewhat bowed tibias, and even orthotics could not compensate for that.

If you're not currently running, it's hard to say for sure if you need extra stability wihout having someone knowledgeable examine your form or biomechanics.

The 2120 seems to emphasize light weight and cushioning. It says it has materials to correct "degree and velocity of pronation," which is vague, but it doesn't mention stability. So this shoe would seem to favor a lighter runner, without any history of pronation problems and relatively few stress-type injuries.

Besides that stability-or-cushioning factor, it is important that you try on the shoes and see which one fits best and feels the most comfortable. Jog around in them, if one of them doesn't feel right, it's probably not.

Asics started that gel thing about 20 years ago, IMHO it was a gimmick then and it's a gimmick now. Fortunately they don't use it to inflate the price of their shoes the way Nike does with Air. The important thing is that a shoe is made of good materials, is well-constructed on a good last, fits well and feels comfortable.
Reply:go for the first ones. they offer about the same stability. i am guessing these are going to be your trainer shoes and you have normal feet. they are about equal, so big differences.
Reply:the asics kayano 12's are the best but expensive

If you dont want those get the asics gel 1120 OR asics 2130s'

Can running shoes from Nike be used for action sports (like, basketball or volleyball) and casual walking?

More specifically, the Nike Air Vapor II (for women).

Can running shoes from Nike be used for action sports (like, basketball or volleyball) and casual walking?
Running shoes can be used for other active sports. But, as a former collegiate volleyball player, I would suggest that you always wear some kind of ankle support. Running shoes are designed to be very light weight and don't offer the support of basketball and volleyball specific shoes. It would be wise to wear some kind of ankle support while wearing cross trainers.
Reply:yes, there's nothing wrong with that. it'd still be good for volleyball and of course casual walking. think twice about the basketball though. running shoes are low- cut, meaning they offer less stability and support than high- cut basketball shoes.

Nike

What running shoes are the comfiest ?

Comfiest is a very subjective term. First off, it depends on how much support you need. If you over pronate(pronation is the natural inward roll of the foot) then you need something like the Asics Evolution, or the Mizuno Renegade. Nike is a bad decision in this case because the majority of the shoes are cushion shoes.

If you are like most people then you dont need alot of support but you can still use stability. The shoe I would go to is the Asics 2120 or Kayano, or the Mizuno Wave Inspire or Nirvana.

Finally if you have higher arches and need less support then you can turn to almost any Nike, although I would suggest the Asics Nimbus or Cumulus, or the Mizuno Wave creation.

I really suggest Asics or Mizuno, I sell shoes and those two brands have the general consensus as the bests running shoes. Asics are softer right off the bat but the Mizunos will give you more support later on.

And if money is no object then the shoe for you is the 165 dollar Asics Kinsei. One of the most technical running shoes on the market. This shoe is very cool.

What running shoes are the comfiest ?
I run w/ Aasics. They are so comfortable, but you really need a shoe that will fit your feet's needs. I hav extra gel padding in the heels of my shoe.

What running shoes are recommended for wide feet?

i know every foot is different, but just wondering if anyone found a brand that they were particularly happy with.

What running shoes are recommended for wide feet?
well I have a hard time finding ruining shoes as I have wide feet and vary high arches. I would suggest you try to find a really good store that knows the foot and there products (so no don't go to the mall) and ask them. I have only found one place in my area that when I ask what shoes have a high arch support even knew what I was talking about lol

its also about 30 miles out of town, and I don't live in a small town
Reply:I'm not with buying those expensive shoes for running, try getting you some reeboks wide width.
Reply:NB comes in widths which is an advantage, often other shoes can be fitted quite well though. Go to a specialty store, the shoes may cost 10 bucks more but being in the right ones is well worth it.
Reply:New Balance....definitely
Reply:new balance-they tend to run wide! so do skechers
Reply:I don't know of a particular brand, just make sure the ones you buy are comfortable and have plenty of room in the toe area
Reply:Have you tried New Balance? They are typically highly recommended. Also check with the store clerk at a footlocker or nike store.
Reply:i think any running shoe, a foot is like a finger print, everyone is different, you just have to look around to see what feels comfurtable, i like nike's. thats what i have, they have this size meter on the box that helps you find the right shoe. mine fits fine and i have a tall arch and a wide foot. just look around for a good pair of nike's ^_^
Reply:New Balance and Avia are the best shoe I've come across for wider feet ( my problem too ). Stop by one of the New Balance stores (if possible) and they'll match the best shoe for you.
Reply:well i think that youl should go to footlocker there kswiss are very shoes they are for wide feet the wear good

Best running shoes? im a guy i like adidas or nike or puma any suggestions?

im a certified shoe fitter and i sell shoes so i know which are the good ones and not. Try ASICS KINSEI or Neimbus VII. ASICS uses Gel-Cushioning System and gives you enough support to avoid injury.

Do not buy those running shoes like Airmax because they can be stiff and wobbly. They are not as bouncy or cushy as they are suppose to be. They are just plain stylish.

Best running shoes? im a guy i like adidas or nike or puma any suggestions?
Nike duhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and besides girl will dig them I know it I am the one to now all about everything.
Reply:Actually I read in recent studies that the best running shoes are the ones with flat thin soles. wearing shoes with thick support soles causes your feet to lose muscle, causiong you to not be able to run as fast or as long. Most Runners thesed days run barefoot, or with something very thin like old slippers.
Reply:well it's kind of hard to answer this question because it is an opinion and we as in other people can't tell you what to like. Just look at what other people say. We all like different things!!! It depends
Reply:For running shoes you shouldn't just simply go with the brand you like. You should go to a store that specialises in running and they'll test your foot and running style to see which shoes are best for you. Running shoes come in three main styles depending on how much support you need and where you need it. Personally I prefer Brooks running shoes to all others. Second I like Asics. I just like what I know and trust.

www.brooksrunning.com

you definetely want to completely disregard what that guy up there said about running barefoot or with no support. Depending on the shape of your foot and your running style you could in the worst case damage your knees to the point that it hurts to walk. Running is hard on your body, it is a very high impact sport. Lifetime runners often need hip replacements and have serious problems with their joints.
Reply:I like adidas that what i would go with, you just have to try them out and see if they feel confortable. plus adidas kicks look grreat!!
Reply:stay away from the shox!!! the best running shoe, comfort and all, are the nike 360's. they have the air pockets lining the entire sole of the shoe, they also have great arch support and breath like no other. they don't run cheap, but what good, long lasting shoe doesn't.
Reply:Definitely nike. Especially shox. Puma is to uncomfortable for running. And adidas is to elevated.

I just got some nike shox, I went running, THEY ROCK!!!!

When running, should your running shoes be loose or tight or just a matter of preference?

I like mine loose because my feet swell with the run and blood flow is restricted.

Most of my elite running buddies wear theirs very loose too.

I guess it really is personal and about how they feel.

When running, should your running shoes be loose or tight or just a matter of preference?
Just make sure that it is supporting your foot (and the rest of your body's frame) and not rubbing.
Reply:i guess it's personal preference, but i like mine tight, so they don't come untied, and it keeps my feet from swelling.
Reply:Tying and lacing are two different things to consider.

Lacing from the front of your shoe to the back should be firm but not tight. Lacing is not just a prelude to tying. Lacing is an integral part of the lateral control mechanism of your shoe. When shoes are designed and tested they are laced firmly to mimic the way that consumers are apt to lace them.

The only time I would recommend altering lacing would be in the case of heel slippage. To prevent heel slippage, lace the shoe up to the second to last eyelet as you normally would, then stay on the same side and put the lace through the top eyelet, creating a loop. Now run the two ends across into the loops and (with your foot in the shoe) pull on the ends of the laces. You should feel your heel seating into the shoe with a snug fit, without pressure on the sensitive top of your foot.

You should tie your shoes tightly but not so tight to affect the lacing. Once you have adjusted your lacing you should tie your shoes once and jog around a bit to be sure everything is right then tie a double knot so that things stay the way they are.
Reply:Tight enough that your feet dont slip about in them. Consider gettting them a half size larger than normal - your feet grow longer over a long run
Reply:You don't want the shoe to be slipping on your foot. It should be tight, but not hurt your foot.

If the shoe is loose and slips it can cause blisters.

The best thing is to be comfortable so get shoes that fit properly.
Reply:There are many many different ways that your shoes can be laced. The shoe should be tight enough to not rub on the back of the heel or you could run into problems with blisters. Some people find it difficult to find what is comfortable to them and they have to chose a different way of tieing their shoes. Some people like the shoe to be loser in the middle and some like the shoe to be loser on one side or the other. Check out the below website for different ways to tie your shoes to make them more comfortable.
Reply:When you're sprinting you want your shoes tight, it can increase your speed. If you're running distance don't have your shoes too tight, but not loose.
Reply:I wear mine loose, but not too loose where my heels slide out or ankles roll. Your feet should not be able to shift too much when you run, but do allow a bit of room due to feet swelling (mostly in long distances). If you tie you shoes too tight, you could have pressure on your nerves on your feet to cause tingling, numbness or discomfort. Make sure you have proper shoes for your foot type, not all runners are equal.

here is a link to give you some tips of various lacing patterns to relieve pressure on troubled areas:

http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,71...

Keep running!
Reply:tight, if your feet move around, you'll get blisters
Reply:I like mine tight, just so that they don't slip out and get your time ruined. :|

What are good running shoes for asphalt & concrete? Are there shoes made for narrow feet?

Do yourself a favor and go to a reputable store that specializes in running shoes. Let them look at your feet, determine your running style and what shoe would be best for you. They do have shoes for narrow and wide feet, high arches and low arches, etc. You really need to get fitted properly in order to avoid injury.

What is a good pair of running shoes for sidewalk running. My Nike's I have now pinch my toes!?

It seems like my toes get squished on top of each other..should I go up a size or go for a wider shoe?

What is a good pair of running shoes for sidewalk running. My Nike's I have now pinch my toes!?
get new balance
Reply:I would try to go up a 1/2 size. I order my running shoes from roadrunnersports.com and they recomend that you go up a 1/2 size. I listened and it feels great for me. I like NEW BALANCE and NIKE SHOX
Reply:I love Avia's and New Balance - they're awesome for balance and they might have wide sizes! Sketchers are pretty comfortable too.
Reply:Your running shoes should always be a 1/2 size larger than what you really wear. Your feet start to swell after some time of running. So, they may feel a little big when you first put them on, but after swelling your toes should have plenty of room. I've heard that Nike's run a little narrow/small. So, you might want to try another brand that will provide you with more room in the toe box. In fact, some running shoes are made with different widths in the toe box. You usually have to special order them on-line though. I've heard New Balance shoes have wider toe boxes.
Reply:Wider, some people make the mistake of going longer, but longer seems to make it wider because the wide spot on the shoe moves up where you need the room, but then you end up with too much room on top. Ask a shoe person to look at your foot and if there good (like me) they can just look and tell if you have a wide foot. Most people do not know they are wide, until I tell them and I put them in a shoe that is about half a size smaller then what they are used to buying and a wide if not an extra wide
Reply:I have the same problem with my Nike's and I discovered that New Balance is the very best. You are able to chose different widths and different forms of cusion to comfort your feet.

Dress shoes with support of a running shoe?

While there are several walking shoes that are designed to look like casual dress shoes (see link below for some examples), no dress shoes even compares to running shoes in terms of support or just about anything else required for running. That is why you will never see a track star or even an amateur trying to run in dress shoes.

Can you wear running shoes to play basketball? Are Nike Airs for basketball or is it more of a fashion shoe?

To be honest, I am in basketball right now and it hurts my ankles to have track shoes and not basketball shoes. But unless it hurts you to run with the other type of shoe on it shouldn't be a problem that I know of.

Can you wear running shoes to play basketball? Are Nike Airs for basketball or is it more of a fashion shoe?
i would not advise running shoes for basketball only because they do not provide any type of ankle support. further, i would strongly avoid running shoes with an elevated heel, such as the nike shox, since it restricts the ankle's range of motion and increases the risk of ankle injury.
Reply:no and you shouldn't, for the simple reason that a running shoe is meant for straight ahead motion and has a built up heel for cushioning which could cause you to roll your ankle . . . basketball shoes are designed for up and down, side to side motion and better at protecting your ankles . . .
Reply:well it depends if how your ankles are and if you like lows or not, but I would definitely not recommend running shoes to play basketball. Most running shoes don't have much traction and don't give you much lateral movement, only forward movement. I used to play basketball in running shoes, and then I switched to basketball shoes, and there was a lot of difference traction wise and movement wise. Basketball sheos also come with special cushioning based on your play and have ankle support, which is important so you don't sprain your ankles. Nike airs are not the best for basketball, and would be more of a fasion shoe. Nowadays most serious basketball players never wear plain nike airs, instead, they wear nike zooms or air maxes for more comfort and support.

Which good running shoes is recommended for long distance running ..??

and what is under pronation

Which good running shoes is recommended for long distance running ..??
Under-pronators generally land in a significantly supinated position and experience very little pronation, meaning from impact to toe-off their foot rolls inward less than the norm. They do not have enough inward motion and therefore can benefit from neutral cushioned-based shoes, which allow and promote the foot to follow the natural pronation movement.

I really like Asics for long distance running. Stores that are geared specifically towards runners usually have the best models available. I'm wearing the Asics 2120 model right now.
Reply:NIKE!!!!! SHOCKS!!
Reply:Nike. They're the BEST brand to me. I've never had problems with them in cross country (which I've been in for four years). But, I don't know what "under pronation" is. Sorry. Good luck!
Reply:DO NOT RUN IN NIKE SHOX! Whoever suggested those has no idea what they are talking about. Some nikes are ok but usually go for mizuno, asics, or brooks and make sure you are fitted at a specialty store or by someone who knows what they are doing.

Also pronation is when your foot falls to the inside. (Your ankle looks like it is trying to touch the ground if it is really bad pronation). I am guessing that by under pronation you mean supernating which is when your foot goes to the outside. I usually see people with high arches supernating and it is easy to fix. Just make sure you get a shoe like the wave creation or etonic jepara which is a bit softer on the inside and helps you keep your akiles tendon straight.
Reply:I agree with wdx2bb and shannonbonnanon526 on the explanation of under and over pronation. The only thing I would add to that is you really need to get a shoe that would fit your foot. If you do not get a shoe to compensate for underpronation or overpronation, you are more likely to have injury to your foot, ankle, or knee. Most of the specialty running stores will have salesperson to help you.

As for brand of running shoe, I love my Reebok. I used to be a fan of the DMX, until they discontinued the line. I still try to find any pair with DMX with it, and I had been using the Premier series. If you are interested in Reebok, there is usually a Reebok outlet store in Outlet Mall, so you can get older models for much less price.

My advice to shoe shopping is to try it on in the store and run a bit to see how it feels. If you don't feel absolutely right, don't get it. I have bought many pairs that I am unable to use.
Reply:under pronation is how your feet rolls in to cushion your fall. go to the nearest running store and ask them what shoes and good for you. I over pronate so i use the brooks adrenaline GTS 7. they work like a charm
Reply:I'm a Brooks guy myself, but you should go to a running store and try a bunch of them on to see what will be the best fit. Don't take the cheap way out -- buy good shoes.

Underpronation and overpronation is a way of describing your arch. If you wet the bottom of your foot and put it on a piece of paper, you may see a very thin footprint or a very thick one. That's under/over.
Reply:the best ones, i guess.

It's best if you avoid running on concrete, however, if you can't do the following:

Go to a Running Lab and get a fitting. The benefit of getting a fitting is that you get a shoe that conforms well with your foot.

When my spouse got back from the Running Lab her expression was, I feel as if I have a spring in my step!

The "Running Lab." will have you take off your shoes, then they will watch you walk, and even take an imprint of your foot. After doing so, they will spend a few minutes analyzing everything. They will ask you a few questions about your running style and your level of running.

Once they have finished they will direct you to a wall of shoes, that has ALL different brands of shoes on it and say something like; "These are what we recommend for you based on your foot's shape, the way you run, where your foot actually impacts the ground and the width of slimness of your feet.

After they show you the selection, try a few pairs on, take them for a "test run" around the block and once you've found a pair that you like, then get them.

The "Running Lab" doesn't charge you extra for their evaluations and the shoes are competitively priced.

Hope this helps...
Reply:dont run on concrete.

its REALLY bad for you.

asphalt, dirt and grass is way better
Reply:Best to go to a specialty running store and get properly fitted. Let them know what type of runner you are ( ex. running on sidewalks, trails, asphalt, all weather, how many miles/week, racing/track/long distances, etc) They will determine the right type of runners for your type of running, foot/arch/narrow/wide feet, pronation, gait. It will make all the difference in your running. I use Brooks Adrenaline (with mogo) and works well for me. It may be different for you. I have tried Nikes,Mizuno, Saucony. I wear different shoes for trails (NIKE)

Also did you know that running on asphalt is better than running on sidewalks? Sidewalks has too many dips, can jar your back/concrete is a harder surface than asphalt.

Good luck and happy running :)
Reply:Asics Gel 2130
Reply:For cushioning I would have to say to go with Asics and I would suggest running on the grass or the road whenever possible as they are softer than concrete and easier on your body.
Reply:Any good quality running shoe has enough cushioning for running on sidewalks. Take a look at Asics Cumulus or Asics Nimbus. These are very cushiony shoes. However, before you buy, go to a running specialty store and try on several shoes on and see what works for you.

I have yet to run in a shoe that had sufficent cushioning for trail or asphalt but insufficient cushioning for concrete. The only issue I've noticed is going up and down the curbs and uneven sidewalks. Both of these can make the running more challenging than running on smooth pavement. Far more important than surface type is incline. Running downhill puts much greater impact forces on your joints.

Finally, remember that shoes lose their cushioning over time. Replace your shoes every 300 to 500 miles or 6 months whichever comes first or whenever the shoes begin to feel flat.

Just go shopping and find some that seem to have more cushon. Never heard of one designed for concrete.

How are Nike Free 5.0 shoes for running?

I tried them out a few days ago at a store and it felt more grounded than other shoes. I'm not sure if they are good for running long distances.

How are Nike Free 5.0 shoes for running?
they are terrible!! unless you weigh like under 100 lbs...so definitely do not get them...go for asics...they are amazing!!
Reply:I used to work at Sports Authority in the shoe dept. So many people make this mistake. Nike Free are NOT running shoes. They are training shoes. The outsole (bottom of the shoe) is designed to strengthen your foot muscles which will in turn help to prevent injuries. If you buy them and start running around in them all the time, you're feet are going to be killing you. People don't realize this b/c they feel so comfortable. If you're going to buy them make sure to wear them for only a little while at first and gradually build up. They're great for serious runners who want to strengthen their feet; but don't get them as your running shoes b/c they don't have enough cushion and aren't durable enough.
Reply:they are good! there like these boots, there made for walking and thats just what they do...and one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you

What are the best running shoes for guys?

I'm about 215-220 and I run pretty heavy (in terms of movement) and I usually run 3 miles a day, 3-4 days a week. What would you guys suggest?

What are the best running shoes for guys?
If you're running that often, you should make a serious investment in your shoes. Go find a running store in your area (or a military bases's PX/BX) and ask for help. A good clerk can help you find the best shoes based on a bunch of different factors, like where you run (on a track? pavement? trail?) or the shape of your feet (flat? high arch? normal?). If you go to a running store, the shoes will be more expensive, but after you get your first pair, you can go online and get them for cheaper.

I personally love New Balance, but that's because they make great shoes for people with flat feet like me.

Wat kind of Asics running shoes would u recommened me to buy ... ??

if i have normal to high arch ... and tend to run long run ... and other than gel Kinsel ..... cuz it's too expensive ..

Wat kind of Asics running shoes would u recommened me to buy ... ??
Go to a running store and let them help you. If you can find one with a treadmill or track in the store so they can watch you run that would be best. Here is DC Potomac River Running is probably the best one. They have a treadmill with a camera behind it. They put you in a neutral shoe and watch you run on the treadmill to watch your entire stride and let you know what you need the shoe to do.
Reply:the 2110 or even the older model the 2100 will be the least expensive asics that will work for you, although i would recommend the Kayano, offers more support.
Reply:Try visiting www.roadrunnersports.com. You can browse the Asics collection and see what shoe fits your running style. Then, head to a sporting goods store and hopefully you will be able find the right shoe. I found that the DS Trainers and the Gel Nimbus work well for me. Still kind of pricey though at 110$ %26amp; 135$, but worth it for your feet!
Reply:HI :)

you have been asking Qs on here abut shoes for weeks. It is impossible to slect a pair of shes through Q%26amp;A or technical research alone.

The ONLY WAY you can get into a pair of running shoes is have your GAIT ANALYSED. Then TEST many pairs of the right type.

Your arch type will make a diference to which shoe works for you, but you can not say high arch = shoe y

so if you want a piar of running shoes that works for you

GO TO A SPECIALSIT RUNNING SHOP AND GET FITTED

no one here can you tell you what shoe to wear as we have not seen you run in them.

Is true running shoes must be at least half number bigger as the normal shoes?

All shoes fit a little differently. Also your feet will swell as you are running, so you want to try shoes on after a long run toward the end of the day. You will need to try some on or you may be just wasting your money.

Is true running shoes must be at least half number bigger as the normal shoes?
For running shoes, it's true. If you run track, the spikes should be 1/2 size smaller than your regular.
Reply:Wear what fits your feet. It depends on the company as to how they fit. Some run small and some may run large. Usually I wear 1/2 size larger, but the is no hard and fast rule as to how a shoe is going to fit your foot.
Reply:Correct! You "is true..."

Reply:new balance are best for running - you can get a pair that will suit YOUR running style and physical make-up. google 'em!

for weights you need something flat, non-'bouncy' and with as little support as possible - you can actually buy 'body-builder' trainers which are cut away at the back but, honestly, an old beaten up pair of trainers is as good.

for exercise like aerobics i'd still go new balance - they can be really ugly but they are good tough well designed trainers that can go some way to alleviating the cartilege damage you can sustain douing anything 'bouncy'!!!(i weigh 17 stone so the shearing-forces involved in running and aerobics makes this a BIG deal for me - i can squat over 200kg but that is sooooo gentle on my joints compared with even a 20 minute run!!)

if you are new to training...or even if you, like most people, don't think much about the long-term impact of HOW you exercise then think about how and why you run - if you want a cardio work out then think about a rowing machine instead - it'll place less stress on your joints and builds stamina like nothing else, in my experience.(i used to row at club level and still take some pleasure in totally trouncing aggressive and ill-mannered gym rats who mistake arrogance and attitude for strength!!=P)

jeesh - i know this wasn't your question but, well, seems like i'm babbling now huh? still - you want a body? exercise is only about 50% of the equation - the REAL secret is getting your diet right - me? i LOOK at processed carbs like bread and pasta and i get fat!!! i can eat as much as i like but only meat and fish proteins and carbs from fruit and vegetables - experiment with it, it took me till i was 30 to find out what my diet could do for my gym routines.

ok, i'll shut up now.

Best running shoes for mid-distance(5-10) and long distance(over 10) running, mainly road work?
are you talking about racing shoes or trainers? cuz trainers dont have a set distance they are made for, they just last anywhere from 250-500 miles.

now racing shoes (spikes mostly, not so much racing flats) are designed for certain distances. like there are sprint spikes that have a very "aggresive" plate that keep you on you toes more, then there are mid-distance spikes (800m-3200m) and long distance spikes (3200m-10,000m). all of these are designed for different track races, not road work (i assume thats training)
Reply:The best way to find the best distance shoe for YOU is to go to a running specialty store and have them examine your running form and the pronation (or lack thereof) of your feet.

If you don't have any specific special needs, Asics makes excellent running shoes for men and women. Look for a "cushioning" shoe, like the 2100 series or the Kayano.

Happy trails!

What are some good running shoes for someone who runs slightly on the outside of the foot?

I'm a begining runner and need support and cushioning. I've been getting arch pain with my older Nike Shox (they're past their prime anyway) and I noticed that I wear the outsides of my shoe sole just a little more than the insides, so I need something that is for average to slight under pronation (I think that's what it called.) I'd like to stay below $100 if at all possible.

Thanks!

What are some good running shoes for someone who runs slightly on the outside of the foot?
I don't think anyone runs more than Marine Corps recruits in boot camp. They issued me a basic pair of New Balance all-purpose running shoes. I've been out of the military for 8 years now and i still run with new balance. My shoes are a little more stylish now, but i don't think you can beat them for price and versatility. Everyone i went to boot camp with had the exact same brand/style new balance shoe. I wont pretend to understand the physics of your feet, but if one shoe worked well with 90 people, running the same distances, the same pace, in the same conditions, i have to believe it will work for you. I will always run with New Balance. Good Luck.
Reply:Hi, Sara-

I have always had tremendous luck with anything New Balance makes. They make a great cross trainer and running shoe for under $50. I cannot remember the style number, but I can vouch for their quality. I have never had much luck with other name brands, such as Nike, Reebok, etc.
Reply:Go to a local running specialty store, and they will help you out much more than some giant retail store. Most of them have a great return policy, even after you have ran in them. Also, your feet swell when you run, so you actually may want to purchase 1-2 sizes bigger than your normal shoe size to compensate.
Reply:Try Fila...(www.zappos.com)
Reply:Much better to invest in good insoles. They'll be cheaper and you can transfer them to all your fav shoes.
Reply:People with a high arch, tend to supenate (run on the outside of their foot). I'd take your worn shoes into a running speciality store and see if they can help you out with makes %26amp; models. They'll probably recommend a cushioned shoe. Most of these stores are staffed by experienced runners...you can get a lot of great advice...and the right shoes. Best of luck!

Breaking in running shoes?

i just got a pair of brooks adrenaline GTS Sevens and they are currently causing the top of my foot to hurt a bit, but they are the right size. is it because they aren't broken in yet? they are also very stiff. other than that, a very good shoe.

Breaking in running shoes?
They do not need to be broken in, they are ready to use.

If they are hurting the top of your foot you may need to lace them up differently.

If changing the laces, wearing better socks does not help then the shoes may not be right for your feet.

It is good to try on shoes and walk around the store before buying them.
Reply:Modern running shoes do not need breaking in. They may become more flexible as you run more miles, but as a general rule, if they are uncomfortable when you first try them on in the store, they will stay uncomfortable. As for the top of your foot, maybe try tying them more loosely?
Reply:sometimes hsoes just arent good for you

i had a pair that hurt my heel

and that never stopped huirting even after 6 months

does it hurt thre top of yer foot like at the arch? (like where u get sunburn)

i also had that too on a pair
Reply:It could definitely be that these shoes aren't in fact your size. I find that a lot of running shoes I've tried in the past have been fitted me tighter than normal shoes would have. I'm typically a size 10, but often i'll get a 10 1/2 just to compensate for the tightness. I find this to be especially true when it comes to New Balance's. You may just want to try a larger size when it comes to running shoes.

Also, like the folks above me said, a lot of modern running shoes are made ready to go, so breaking them in shouldn't be much of a process. I just typically wear them to the gym for a couple of days before I bust them out on a run and they're good to go.

And finally if you find that your shoes are quite stiff, you may want to invest your money in the future on Aasics, Nike's, or New Balance. They're all exceptional running shoes but I find Aasics to be THE MOST comfortable.

Good Luck on your running!
