Saucony, asics or nike for running shoes?need to have a extreme cushioning?
Asics work best for me, but everybody is different. If I were you I would go to road runner sport to ask them about shoes. They will look at how you walk and what you would prefer. They will ask you if you need them for walking of running plus you will be able to return them if they do not work for you!
Reply:I am over 200 and use Brooks Beasts.

However as others have said you should get properly fitted for size, footstrike etc...

I also recommend you visit the shoe store for fitting shortly after running as well.

Here is an article about Brooks running shoes.

http://runningfat.com/running-shoes/broo...
Reply:i've used them all, but i gotta say the asics were the best for me - looks like you have some good answers already here too!

lawrence - i am jealous - i cant seem to get more than 2-3 months before i wear out my shoes! lol
Reply:I am not heavy, but use high end ASICS. Good cushioning from heel to toe, which few other shoes have.

When I first got a pair of these, it felt like firm cushion rails the length of my feet. Best $110 I ever spent on shoes. Lasted 5 years, too.
Reply:Go to a running store and get fitted, they'll choose you the best possible shoe based on how your foot strikes the ground and your weight.

I run in Asics and they're fantastic. I also liked a pair of Mizunos I owned.

If you can afford to get nice shoes from a running shop you'll see that they don't really carry (much) Nike. Nike's more of a fashion shoe these days and I'd stay away from them.
Reply:My husband always uses Asics or Brooks, he says they are the most comfortable for running. New Balance are the best for walking.
Reply:A lot of the higher standard running shoes today will offer good cushioning, but a running shoe depends on your running gait. If you really are interested go into a good running store, and see if they can analyse your style, and from that hopefully they should be able to offer you a running shoe that would suit you. In my opinion Nike or Asics are the most popular, and for the person above who says Nike arent stocked much anymore and that they are a fashion item, im sorry but you are very wrong sir.

What are some really good running shoes?

Best bet, pick up one one of the Running magazine's shoe issues to get some guidance. Talk to a running store (not a sports store or a shoe store) if there is one in your area and get some advice. Realize that you may take you a couple of tries to find what really works for you. I have personally had good luck with New Balance and have a couple pairs of Saucony shoes that worked well. I have also had a few pairs of very expensive very popular brands that have inflicted a great deal of pain, so don't think that more expensive is better. Once you find what works for you, stick with it (and look for it on sale!)

What are some really good running shoes?
new balance or asicis
Reply:Brooks, and Mizuno are really good, the best spikes are the Nike Jasari's
Reply:I like Newbalance and have had good luck with the 766/767/768 line.

Also tried the asics 1120s and found them good too

I know many people like Nike but myself and my wife have never had any luck with them.
Reply:Adidas Barricade, or Asics Gel 1130 are pretty cheap, solid running shoes

Are gel-insoles good for running shoes?because i need added cushioning?

try any nike trainer, specifically the nike air zoom vomero 1 or 2 you literally sink in to the full length air sole (it feels awesome)

Are gel-insoles good for running shoes?because i need added cushioning?
Not really.

Gel is actually best for vibration dampening or side to side force reduction. However, when running or walking most of the force is vertical (up or down). Down from gravity or up from the hard surface of the ground. Therefore, you are better off with an insole made out more maximum shock absorbing cushioning materials. One of the best on the market today is the dual layered memory foam PAM insole from MEGAComfort http://www.megacomfort.com . If you still want the gel, their new MEGASole combines the dual layered memory foam with just a little gel under the heel and arch. For more information on insoles visit my blog at http://theinsoledoctor.blogspot.com/
Reply:yes, gel insoles would be good for your feet and your performance. just be sure to take the original sole out of your shoe and replace it with your new insert. if you need even more cushioning, simply invest in shoes that offer a lot of cushioning to begin with. may i suggest the Asics Gel Platinum or the Nike Air Pegasus-both offer tons of cushioning and support for your needs.
Reply:Yes, it is good for the heels and will lessen the chance of you having a sprain in your ankle.
Reply:yes they work great.. i use them all the time and my heels feel way better.

Do you like women in running shoes or in high heels better?

Why?

Do you like women in running shoes or in high heels better?
I like wearing running shoes. High healths are not healthy to wear.
Reply:high heels is always better....
Reply:High heels, because the feminine foot is accentuated by these shoes.
Reply:High heels accentuate the figure.
Reply:high heels because the high heels makes woman butts more round and shape
Reply:Men are suckers for heels honey.
Reply:high heels-make those legs go for days and pop
Reply:that depends. but in my opinion high heels are designed to make women look sexy. running boots are meant to make people feel comfortable.

high heels give the ankles, the calves, the bottom, and the breasts a sexy shape. but that does not mean that a woman wearing running boots can not look sexy
Reply:Don't care.
Reply:I wear whatever I want, if the guy wants high heels, he can wear them.
Reply:im a woman and im still gonna answer, heels, cause they make the legs look that much hotter! any woman that says she doesnt look when a woman is dressed fine is not telling the truth, and heels are hot, thats why we wear them.

My Hus (a RN) wears running shoes to work. They smell like mildew. How can I get rid of that smell?

My hubby had the same problem. I took one of his socks and poured about a cup of baking soda into it, then tied the top of the sock up so it wouldn't spill out. I did this with two socks and put one in each of his shoes along with a dryer sheet. In a matter of hours the odor was gone and his shoes smelled like snuggle. I do it every night now when he takes his shoes. off.

My Hus (a RN) wears running shoes to work. They smell like mildew. How can I get rid of that smell?
Spray them with Lysol and leave them overnight on top of a heating vent. That's what I do.

Keeping them super dry will kill the germs. Germs need moisture to live and shoes are a good place for that.

Also you got to treat his feet too. You need the stuff that "cures athletes foot". If it doesn't say that than it won't work. Trust me I know!
Reply:Wash them in the washing machine...add a couple of tablespoons of bleach to the water.
Reply:Throw them out!! Big 5 has running shoes for as low as $15.
Reply:take some old socks, or nylon stockings %26amp; fill with activated carbon (they sell it in the pet/ fish department in big block stores) when he is not wearing his shoes, make sure the socks go inside the shoes, You can also get some odor eaters foot spray %26amp; shoe inserts that he can wear when he is using his sneakers.
Reply:Sprinkle baking soda in them when he takes them off. Shake it out in the morning.
Reply:two thingss get some dr scholls in soles for his shoes and secondnd spray of odor eater

Can you tell me which running shoes have been the very best for you personally?

You get this all the time I bet, but this is a first time here for me.

Can you tell me which running shoes have been the very best for you personally?
I always liked New Balance running shoes. I pronate and they are good for this. I also am using Adidas. New Balance was more for when I was doing longer distances.
Reply:Mizuno Wave Elixer
Reply:I use Brooks Adrenaline gts 7, but that's because they have good stability which i need because i supinate. I've used like 5 pairs of them for cross counry already, and i LOVE THEM, they are soo confortable. Also they are light, and they're good too if you don't weigh a lot.

the 7's are just as good as the 6's, except they're like 40 bucks more. so it just depends on whether or not it's on sale.

Reply:For me personally... I love the asics speedstar (and speedstar II) just cuz they're light as hell. But it would be a horrible shoe for some people because it doesn't provide a lot of cushioning or structure. I would recommend an Asics shoe (they're pretty much the best brand... Nike's kind of cheap now). This link should help: http://www.asicsamerica.com/sports/runni...

New Balance makes the best running shoes. Good arch support, sturdy and durable.

Need a new pair of running shoes. Can anyone recommend a good brand/model?
i would start with New Balance, then Asics. then Nike
Reply:I like anthing by Adidas
Reply:nike has always been a good brand.
Reply:the type of shoe you should get depends on how you pronate and the arch on your foot. without these details i cant help you. Also the people who recommend nikes you're dumb.Nike makes the worst running shoes ever if you dont know an answer to a question dont fricken answer it.
Reply:Mizuno, New Balance.. there are many. You might want to go to a specialty sports shoe store and have them profile your foot and running pattern, how your foot strikes the ground etc. Accordingly they can suggest a good shoe to wear. You can try out different brands too. It's a better method than asking people on Yahoo Answers. hehe..

Good luck.
Reply:Im a cross country and track runner and i personally recomend Asics because they are comfurtable and hold up pretty well
Reply:Not Nike. They make a great basket ball shoe but their running shoes are awful.

Asics and New Balance are great. I like the Asics gel series.

go to this site, they have a section called 'shoe dog'. you can enter your weight, running style, and training style, and it recommends shoes for you. It also has reviews from runners and info on proper sizing.

http://www.roadrunnersports.com/
Reply:new balance is good too...yeah...
Reply:I usually run in New Balance because they make great motion control shoes and they have every size and width. I have also had some sucess with Adidas, Reebok and Saucony. I loved Nike when I was in high school and college, but they seem to add fancy looking things (like shox,) to their shoes and then charge too much and I would still buy them, but I cannot find a comfortable pair. A lot of people swear by Asics and they are probably good for most people, but every time I wore a pair of them in a marathon, I got blood blisters and lost toenails. The toe box is too narrow for my long second toes. If you do choose Asics, you should know that they are usually sized too small, so try on several sizes before buying them.
Reply:go to the shoe store.
Reply:nike, jordans, addidas, converse, nike again.

I am planning to buy running shoes, get pain in the front toe area hence need extra cushion there?

i have normal foot, protate mildly, currently its jogging / treadmill for 1 hr a day ...... i am told that asics gel is the best for me, its $200 worth or there are alternatives avaible

I am planning to buy running shoes, get pain in the front toe area hence need extra cushion there?
My foot pronates also and my advice is jsut to get a shoe that has a higher arch to give support to your foot. It should relieve the pain in your foot. I had old running shoes and when i got new shoes with an arch that supportss my pronating foot bettter the pain in my foot went away
Reply:Go to a running specialty store (not a general sporting goods store) and explain your exact problem, the workers tend to be quite knowledgable. Pain in the toes could mean you need to trim your nails, or your shoe is too small (your foot swells while running) or maybe your foot is slipping in your shoe and mashing your toes to the front of the shoe or it could be something else.

In Air Force BMT, are running shoes issued for PT or must one bring a pair?

Issued. They want everyone to be the same and have one uniformed look!

Pretty much everything everything you need will be issued to you. In some cases, however, it's not a "free issue." Only actual uniform items are issued for free. Non-uniform items, such as notebooks, pens, flashlights, etc., are not. A couple of days after arrival, you'll be issued an official basic training "debit card." This card has about $250 worth of your first paycheck deposited in a special finance account. When you need to purchase something that is not issued free (such as the running shoes, soap, shampoo, haircuts, laundery costs, etc.), you'll use this card.

The Air Force used to allow you to bring your own running shoes and wear them during basic training PT, this policy has recently changed. Recruits are now required to wear the "issue" standard, New Balance, plain white running shoes. Recruits may only wear their $200 "Nikes" if they have a medical waiver from the base medical clinic.

In Air Force BMT, are running shoes issued for PT or must one bring a pair?
Out of our entire company, I think like 3 of us were allowed to keep their tennis shoes for jogging/running. The rest had to buy new shoes with the funds given to them at the beginning of BCT.

Those tennis shoes were nice. I haven't found running shoes like those in the civilian marketplace. Shoe stores ask me where the heck I got them. I nurse them along.
Reply:They should in theory issue you everything you need. But it might be safe to bring your own anyway.

When I joined the Army, I lucked out - I have these big, oddly shaped feet and getting footwear issued to me that actually fit well involves having them and insoles specially ordered. When none of the grotty issued running shoes fit me, I was permitted to wear my comfortable Nikes.
Reply:You'll be issued every uniform item you'll need, from your shoes to your underwear. If you require special inserts for arches, bring just those.

Whats the difference between a basketball shoes and a running shoe?

just trying to find out the main differences (:

Whats the difference between a basketball shoes and a running shoe?
basketball shoes have a higher cut compared to running shoes. they also offer more protection on the ankles.
Reply:Basketball shoes are high tops. They support the ankles.

Running shoes are low tops. A good running shoe needs good arch support, good soles, good inserts.
Reply:i think the difference between the basketball shoes and the running shoes is simple. The basketball shoes is made of high heels so that to help and support the players to jump higher, but the running shoes is made up of low heels and not of high heels
Reply:basketball shoes have more grip
Reply:Basketball shoes are high tops.
Reply:basketball shoes have more grip on the bottom and usually wraps your ankle.
Reply:basketbal shoes are heavier and are taller in the ankle area for protection, running shoes and light.
Reply:basketball shoes have grooves in the bottom to get grip on a court and running shoes arent as smooth on the bottom and kinda have like spikes almost to get better grip. Running shoes most of the time only come below your ankles and most basketball shoes come above the ankles to give your ankles suppot to prevent injuries and running shoes ar lighter.
Reply:Basically a basketball shoe has almost no traction and a running shoe does. The basketball shoe also has a higher ankle cloth to support the ankle better on the court. The running shoe has a lower ankle cloth and thicker soles.

Thanks!

What are the most comfortable running shoes?

I think the most comfortable I've ever worn are the Nike Free. However, this does not mean they are the best to wear running. My regular running shoe is Mizuno Wave Inspire and I wear the Nike Frees mostly for walking.

What are the most comfortable running shoes?
That depends on your feet, your style of running, and so forth. Go to a good, high-end athletic shoe store, and ask them to show you some different shoes. Take your old shoes with you - that can show the salesperson some information about how your shoes wear, and give them an idea of what you need. For example, I wear out my shoes on the outside edges faster than the inside edge, because my feet roll to the outside more. So my current gym shoes have harder material along the outside.

You'll pay more for these shoes than you will by getting them at K-mart, but they will support your feet better, and protect them more, and you'll be happier with them.
Reply:It depends on your foot. High insteps and high arches are my biggest challenge. I have to go the the sports store and try them on. Pronation and supination are major considerations that any running shoe salesman should know about.

I didn't know the reason my lower leg muscles would burn was due to my high arches. I wasn't wearing any arch supports in my shoes. Now I know the best shoes for me are the ones that address my foot structure.

I do prefer the lightest weight shoes though.
Reply:My favorite are adidas but it depends on your foot!

Bought an expensive pair of running shoes that ended up being rather tight in the toes. Any suggestions on?
Can you return them to get a pair that will fit you? If not, maybe try streching them out by stuffing some paper towels and see if that helps. But next time, make sure your shoes fit before you buy them Having too tight shoes can cause you to have foot problems
Reply:real old school . it works 100% of time . jam toes tight newspaper , place deep freeze at least 12 hours. discard newspapers stuff with frsh paper ready when dry . sounds stupid but it still is the easiest way , cheaper than wood shoe trees , or shoemaker

How often should buy new running shoes?

hey u never emailed me back..lol....anyway u get new ones when the old ones get stinky and dirty and old and wore-out i guess. =)

How often should buy new running shoes?
most people change every 400-600 miles or by damage. if using asics a good indicator is when the duomax begins to feather.if using shoes with some sort of gel pouch..when that gel patch ruptures.

but the best way is always feel if you shins begin to hurt waering an old pair of shoes it's always safest to trash them and buy a new pair.
Reply:It depends on the shoe, and what surface you are running on, but i think they say about 400 miles per pair. When you buy new shoes just ask how many miles they recommend for that pair of shoes. Hope I helped!
Reply:an experienced runner will buy a minimum of 6 pairs of shoes per year....that's if ur really into it :-)
Reply:you should change the gel soles in your shoes every 200miles and get new shoes every 400-600miles.
Reply:You should by new shoes until they're worn out or damage. If you run and you feel pain in your shins, you need a new pair or if they start to get holes in them.
Reply:how often do you run?

if you run year round... 6 times a week... putting about 3-6 miles a day...you should change every 3-5 months.. unless obvious damage is done to the shoe...

if you run seasonaly(spring%26amp;summer or maybe fall)... 3-5 times a week... 2-5 miles per day.. change probably twice a year

whenever you feel lacking support on the sides or back.. IT IS TIME TO CHANGE... serious damage could be done to your foot if support is lacking

you can also go to a pro(any place that is not a walmart, payless, outlet stores, etc) and ask questions
Reply:When you can't catch your last ones
Reply:U ask 2 many questions...think about it...duh....Ur the runner...Not us....Come on....Think an du should know..Stop askin so many Questions..get a Life...duhhhhhhhhhh

Can you all recommend some running shoes for a male? In the price range of $80-$100?

I appreciate the help

Can you all recommend some running shoes for a male? In the price range of $80-$100?
I can't possibly overstate this fact, You need a shoe built for you, you can get the most amazing shoes for 100 dollars but it may not work for you, what I'm talking about it pronation. its the lateral movement of your ankle on impact and you can't see it by yourself you need someone to see what part of your heal hits the ground first, the more inside hits the worse you pronate, also any good shoe store should let you try on your shoes and run in them and they should watch and help you pick out how bad your feet pronate, if you dont know what i'm talking about go to another store, as for shoes, go get ones that fit your pronation level, any top brand is good, i've run in asics my whole life but now have a pair of saucony's, lots of my friends use mizunos, brooks are almost as good addidas are ok never run in a nike, thats just not a good idea, best of luck
Reply:Try to find a specialty running store near where you live. If you can find a store they will fit you specially for the shoes that are the best for you and most will be between $80-100 some run a little higher but not much higher. If you can't find a store near you research what kind of feet you have and the type of shoes you would need and get them off a discount site.

Are Nike Shox OZ good running shoes?

Most people don’t like the Nike (shox) because they are not supportive and have been known to cause many ankle problems. If you are a neutral runner then there is a chance that the shoe will work for you injury free.

yea iv heard the same thing...shox are kinda a placeabo..false advertisement...theyr jus for show n they like to convince the buyer that theyr good for exercise n running wen actually they do NOTHING! the "shox" giv no support ther is no differenc except a lil height...i wuldnt suggest it

New Balance, time after time, a different model, the same satisfaction. I've been wearing them over 10 years and usually stick to the neutral/cushioned/lightweight models like the 825/826/827/828/829/830/831/833-marathon shoe or 900. Where to go for good running shoes?

I have been running for 8 years now. Though I am biased towards Nike as a brand, I would recommend you to go to a running-specific store, like Fleet Feet in Carrboro, NC. They can help you find the right shoe because people buy shoes that aren't necessarily right for their feet, but more comfortable or fashionable. But after you get the correct shoes or even if you haven't, I would go to any major athletics store and ask the sales associates because they are getting paid to know the products they are selling. But make sure you state the use/reason for buying the shoes. Good luck!!!

Where to go for good running shoes?
It is best to go to a running shoe store that specializes in running shoes. They can look at your current shoes (wear those to the store) and watch you jog on a treadmill to see what shoe is best for you. I have gone to a big box type sporting goods store, and the sales people knew nothing about pronation, stability, motion control.... You want to go to a store that can help you find the best shoe for your running style. Not just the one that looks cool.
Reply:Pull out your local Yellow Pages and find a running shoe store.

Stores dedicated to running take more time to measure your feet, observe you running, look for foot strike patterns, etc.

It's a good idea to take your current shoes in so they can see how they wear.

I find that running shoe stores often aren't more expensive. They carry stock from previous years, and often have close-outs with steep discounts.

Once you are professionally placed in a shoe you like, you can buy them on line from Roadrunner, or similar sites.
Reply:Specialist running shop for your first pair and if you develop probmes with you knee joints.

Afterwards - if you are sticking to the same model of runnign shoe - go to a larger shop (JD sports and the like), or a factory outlet etc where you might get them cheaper

Where can I buy cheap running shoes online?
To be honest, if you're looking for 'good' quality, brand name running shoes, your not going to find them for $40 or under. Most Asics are at least $80+, not sure about the other brands.

Your best bet would be to go to a local shoe store if you want to start running and have them fit you for a shoe that suits your running style.
Reply:Define Cheap, I just bought a pair of Nike, Air Moto +5 for 88$ from www.runningexpo.com it is my second pair of shoes I bought from them last pair was Asics Landreth III for about the same price. Both shoes perform well for the price.

If you are going to run and run seriously you really can't by a "Wal-Mart" Nike brand. Through I recommend going to a sports store and getting fitted properly with shoes. Shoes for running are the most important equipment you have.

Lord no. They have NO ankle support, they're flat, they're not very well cushioned so they don't absorb the shock and can hurt your knees as well.

You're way better off getting a pair of sneakers. Tennis shoes. Something with some padding and support for your food and ankle.

I have been using these for some time now, with heavy uphill jogging and no sores on my feet, they stay tied, no calluses. The price is a bit high , but its well worth it.

I need to get my running shoes repair just the heel so anyone know of a place near dumfries va?

It's hard to know how to advise you without understanding what the problem is with the heel. If it has become detached from the rest of the shoe, so that it is peeling off, that's a really easy repair. It's just glued, so any shoe repair shop can fix that.

But if you have worn down the heel, so that you would need to have it rebuilt, it's not worth it. You can do this for dress shoes, of course, but modern athletic shoes are built with a lot of high-tech materials *inside* the shoe. There are special shock-absorbing layers that are beneath the rubber part you see. They do a great job, but they wear out faster than the sole and heel of the shoe itself. As a result, by the time the rubber is worn down, the internal layers are long gone, and they are not giving you any more protection.

At that point, the shoe is really no good for runing any more. If they still look okay, you can wear them around the house, but you should not run in them, because you are risking damage to your feet. And there is no way to replace that interior material, or, if you could, it would cost a lot more than buying new shoes.

As I said, if I could see the shoes I could give you more specific advice, but I hope this helps. Good luck!!

Whats the best brand of running shoes?
Personally I do well with New Balance, but like so many have said; it all depends on your foot. At the shoe store, if the employees assist their customers, so that could be of help. But watch out, people tend to get too dependent on their shoes and if you buy new shoes too often, your foot wont get much stronger. That is why you shouldn't try to get the most high-tech expensive model out there. Some people get injuries because their foot or ankle is weak and end up running in classier shoes and never really heal. Nike has a good shoe [in which I forget the name] that simulated the freedom of running barefoot with the proper support at the same time. I would suggest those. Also do a few strides after your workout barefoot in the grass.
Reply:those nikes you are talking about are nike frees. I personally like them, but they took me half a month to get used to them Report It

Reply:Ok well im sorry to go against the common idea but ive heard that Nike are good but that they have little to no support in them for your foot and your arch. The best shoe for long distance, i would have to say, would be Brooks because they are very light weight, they are one of the best supporting running shoes and they feel great on the bottom of your foot due to the gel, silicon, and water undersides. They are a bit more expensive then most but the product is much better for your foot. Also get some insoles that fit the curve of your fot so you dont roll in or out too much.

I'm looking for some very good running shoes for running long distance and cross country?
Personally, I think any shoe made by Asics is worthy for the gods, but you should NEVER EVER BUY SHOES ONLINE. You should only buy shoes online, if you have already bought a pair of shoes at a store, you know they fit you and don;t give you any problems, and you have been running in them for a while, and you need new ones and you want thesame exact model. With that exception, you shold always go to a runnign store to buy shoes. At a good running store, expect the people to look at your foot, examine your stride, and run around for a while. Let them choose the shoe for you. They know more than you!
Reply:Contrary to the posts above me Asics are in fact not the best running shoes to go with. I'd suggest Brooks running shoes. They will last 30% longer than any other brand out there and the cushioning technology which is called HydroflowST will not let you down. A PU bag filled with liqud silicone that will not pop, freeze, melt, or change in any way. The new MoGo midsoles are even better than their previous midsoles.

If you overpronate the I'd suggest the Trance 6 or 7. They can be found online at www.finishline.com

If you do not overpronate then a different shoe would be better. If you have a local running store I'd suggest going in there and have them fit you for the perfect pair of shoes. If you take off your shoes and socks and they look at you funny.......put your shoes back on and walk out cuz you're in the wrong place. Also the teenage kid with acne at your local Footlocker is not a reputable source for sneaker knowledge. Trust me they don't know anything. If you need anymore help just let me know.

BTW - you get what you pay for. Look at the original price as a small guide. If they didn't cost near or over $100 you prob won't want to be running long distance in them. Most great running shoes will cost about $120-$150

Also do not buy into the gimmicks of a Nike shox or Adidas A3 sytems. They are just a for your "wannabe" runners. All I wear is Jordans %26amp; Nikes for every other kind of shoe but for serious running you want to go with a technical shoe, not a gimmick.

My whole family owns Brooks. I am also Brooks SoleTech Certified so you best believe I'm legit and up on my sneaker knowledge. I know more about shoes than I could even begin to tell you guys on here cuz it would just blow your mind and you would have no idea as to what I'm talking about. I may sound cocky but it's the truth. I've studied shoes for over 15 years.

I am looking for a running shoes. Any brand recommendations?
It totally depends on your feet and what kind of running you're doing. I do long distance so any problem in the shoe will become exagerrated over the miles. Go to a store that specializes in running and let them look at your feet. They should watch you walk and preferably see you run to see how your feet work. then they can recommend the best show. (I've had Nikes, Saucony, Asics and now Brooks.)
Reply:My favorite brand is Nike, but if you go to your local sports store, I'm sure they'll have all sorts of brands.
Reply:puma, asics, nike, new balance they are all pretty good.

spikes are always about $50

regular running shoes are $30+
Reply:Asics or Muzunos are my favorite. DOnt get the nike shockes, they are bad for distance running. You should really go to your local running store(NOT something like ***** or models/city sport) and have them fit you for a pair. It is a little more $ but in the long term alot better if you have the right shoes.
Reply:Go to your local running shop and they will find the right type for your feet, some poeple need a certain make that give them the best comfort and prevent them from injury. i think that brooks and aisics are the best shoes if you are doing road running or cross country but it depends how much you want to spend! nike are also quite good and usually quite cheap!

Why are the laces on running shoes twice the length they need to be?

So the user has choices as to how they like to lace them. There are many ways to lace a shoe and runners have specific lace patterns that don't cause any friction on the foot. DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY FOOTFALLS ARE IN A 6 MILE RUN??

So any trick to reduce friction is welcome. Still, there are people who default to the traditional criss-cross automatically.

Why are the laces on running shoes twice the length they need to be?
so you can get them tighter

How often do you replace running shoes?
probably when the souls fall out or if your like me, i play softball and pitch and the toes of my cleats are worn out, i replace them every year
Reply:I've heard that they should be replaced at least every six months, but it all depends on how much you wear them. I've had the same running shoes for years on end because I didn't go running that often. But if you do go frequently, you'll need to replace them more often. My track coach told me to get at least three new pair every year but I was running a lot back then. I'd go for every six months as the average and best bet.

Basketball shoes need to provide support for the ankles because of the impact that caused from jarring the ankles side to side. Typically they are mid to high top covering the ankles.

Running shoes need more cussion from the feet slapping pavement or worse. They don't necessarily need the high ankle support so they tend to be low tops below the ankles.

Reply:Running shoes have more cushioning in the sole and obviously football boots have studs/blades to stop the player slipping during play.
Reply:They are different from each other...........as you know they are being used for seperate purposes. Visit any adidas or nike showroom and see the difference.
Reply:football shoes have studds to give you a better grip to the ground whereas running shoes usually have more and lighter rubber to give you better grip on asphalt rather than grass. Running shoes are much lighter in general and dont grip around your foot as tight so as to alow your feet to breath during long periods. A good pair of running shoes in general is much more expensive. You can pick up a fairly good pair of football shoes for about $120.oo bucks ;)
Reply:football shoes or "cleats" have little nodules on the sole of the shoe.they are primarily used by football players and running shoes are designed for "runners" or "joggers".there is more support in running shoes to cushion and support the arch in the foot during running, jogging,or other vigorous activity.

Reply:recreational to intermediate runners usually prefer asics... however at the elite level, nikes are the most popular

i've been a nike wearer for all my life, and i love them, but for the most part people hate them and always have problems
Reply:Every runner has a different "perfect" shoe that fits their running environment, frequency and style. The important thing is to not limit yourself to a brand, but find the right shoe. I have included a website that is a good starting place to finding shoes that will work.

That being said, I LOVE Asics. I ran with Nike for a while and assumed that I naturally always had shin splints if I ran for long periods of time. My friend helped my find a shoe at a specialty running shoe store. I had to consider my arch, my running terrain, etc. I ended up with the Asics Gel Kayano; I never had shin splints with this shoe. I ran eight miles and I never had any "shoe problems." They rock.
Reply:um, asics are soooo much better. They specialize in running shoes, nike does not. Idk for guys but i know there are some crappy running shoes for women by nike. However, i love nike's racing shoes...
Reply:I started my running with Nike but after a couple of years, I switched to Asics. While I thought the Nike Air Triax family were good shoes, I loved the Asics once I started wearing them. They seemed more supportive yet lighter. I still wear Asics and I haven't looked back.
Reply:go to a running shop and they will recommend you a type of shoe that fits the way you run, but personally i think asics are much better, i have worn them for a long time in various styles and have never had any problems, but its up to you. chose whatever id the most comfortable
Reply:asics for me are just better sports shoes, especially for running

(but i love my dunks)
Reply:Asics are amazing. Love them.

Do you use Asics running shoes?
Yes, they are AWESOME!
Reply:Wow, you have big feet!

I've been sporting Asics running shoes since the Gel Lyte Ultra (circa 1993) and yes they do rock!
Reply:started out with Nikes, and found out tha asics are so much more comfortable, and they don't have an Air Unit that loses its cushioning after it "deflates". lol

They usually have Gel!!! Awesome running shoes. I have some sprinter spikes from them too. =]
Reply:they make the best shoes.
Reply:love them, gels rock, people who hate on them are just amateurs.
Reply:Yes i do! They are the best for when i run! a size 15..wow..you know what they say...big shoes...big socks! =D lol

Reply:I've been through 15 pairs of Asics, from the 2070s to the 2120s and a couple Kayanos. Love 'em.

What are really good running shoes less than $100?

http://www.seejanerun.com/p-1772-womens-...

Asics are the best shoes ever!

They are so comfy and have great grips so you can go hiking without a problem, and ice is easy!

http://www.geardirect.com/browse.cfm/4,6...

New Balance, an awesome and inexpensive brand! Mine have lasted me so many years, through the paint balling adventures and the slippery and slimy surfaces at work (especially after mopping!) They are awesome and have great traction!

What are really good running shoes less than $100?
Nike +

you can use ur ipod nano to track your steps and cals. distince. etc
Reply:you should go to a good running store and have them look at your feet.

every foot is different; you can't just buy any shoe. you can get serious injuries like that.

it all depends on your arch. so ask someone in a store to pick out shoes that would fit your arch, and they'll probably bring you different pairs for you to try out.

it's hard to just recommend a shoe because different shoes work for different people.

you can probably find a pair for like $80.00. they don't come cheap.
Reply:Which ever pair you would like that fits and is comfortabgle

Reply:it depends what type of shoe is good for you. If you pronate, try the stability shoes. I'm no expert but go to the nearest running store and ask them. Also on brooksrunning.com, there's a survey to help you choose your shoe based on your frame and how your feet works. it's pretty cool
Reply:depends on your foot type different people like different shoes. nike fits me the best
Reply:Nike Free, which makes you feel like you are running barefoot.
Reply:nike running is good
Reply:it is all based on your personal preferance. but i wouldn't recommed training in nikes but i would recommend them for racing. also don't train in the frees for more than half an hour because injuries will result. my favourite shoes are asics ds trainers, nike miler/lanang spikes, and adidas adistar comp flats.
Reply:i don't like nikes because they fall apart very easily and don't last long. my favorites are asics-they are lightweight and last long, and saucony-they give your foot great support.
Reply:New Balance and Adidas. Nike is good for workouts or playing sports.

What are the best running shoes?

It depends on how your feet move when you run. If you tend to run on the outer sides of your feet, you pronate. If you tend to run onthe insides of your feet, you under-pronate. You are supposed to run on the middle of your feet.

Different makes of shoes help based on whether you pronate or over pronate. For me, Asics work the best. Go to a running specialty store, let them watch you run, look at the wear patterns of your current shoes, and fit you with shoes that are right for you.

It all depends...

Reply:I used to own a pair of New Balance, but eventually they started to dig into the back of my ankle. I bought a pair of Ryka at DSW (they were about $60). They're cross trainers that you just step into and it's very cushy around the ankle. They're light and so comfy!

Reply:The global editors of Runner’s World® magazine held their second annual International Editor’s Award Ceremony in New York City on November 4th. For the first time, a ‘Best Innovation Award’ was given out for the development and use of new technologies. The ASICS® GEL-Kinsei® was given this prestigious award for its use of dual-density gels.

The awards took place following the conclusion of the Runner’s World International Shoe Summit, a four-day conference featuring the editors of all nine international editions of Runner’s World and eleven of the world’s leading running shoe manufacturers, who presented their upcoming 2007 product lines.

The GEL-Kinsei award follows on the heels of a feature article on the shoe in the November issue of Runner’s World magazine. The most technically advanced product to date from the shoe designers of ASICS, the GEL-Kinsei debuted at the 2005 ING NYC Marathon in the ASICS Expo Booth and arrived at retailers on February 1, 2006. Reply:Everyone will have a different opinion. Just get a good quality pair, not something off the shelf from Wal-Mart or Payless. Make sure they fit you properly and are comfortable. A good quality pair won't require any "break in" time. You should be able to put them on and go do your typical workout without any discomfort or blistering like cheap shoes can cause.

I like Nike myself, but would definitely purchase another brand if I tried them and they fit well and felt good. Make sure there's plenty of cushion to protect your legs and back from the impact of running.

Happy trails!

What are a good brand of trail running shoes?

I run x- country and track and I'm interested in doing this over

the summer.

What are a good brand of trail running shoes?
If you've got the cash, Asics are the way to go. If you're like me and tight on a budget, sauconys are pretty cheap and are very good. I own a pair my self. They are cushiony and help with muscle pain associated w/running
Reply:asics all the way, man. They are awesome. Very comfortable ..I never get shin splints or blisters etc...I wear them to school too. They are that good.

Help! I need new running shoes?

I think i am going to sports authority tommorow on Vetern's day. Do u think sportsauthority wil be open tommorow?

Help! I need new running shoes?
They will be open. If you know exactly what type of shoe is right for you, you should get a good deal. If you don't, I'd recommend checking out some info from runner's websites as you will not get accurate feedback from the SA sales guy. If you have any time to go to a specialty running store, try them, too.
Reply:if i were you, i would not go to sports authority. i'd go to a specialty running shop. at sports authority, the employees are not trained to evaluate your gait and they will not know which show is right for you. AT a specialty store, the employees are very knowledgeable, and given your activity level, and an examination of your gait will be able to tell you which type of shoe is correct for you. This will greatly reduce your risk of injury, and you'll be glad you went to an expert because you may realize that you've been running in the wrong shoes forever!
Reply:Yea I'm pretty sure...I think a lot of stores will stay open. All right, bye!
Reply:i think many stores will open. so no problem
Reply:I would assume so. Most places are.

I'm a Brooks guy when it comes to running shoes. Give them a try.
Reply:They should be open but it would be better to go to a specialty running store because they do have specialists that will look at your feet and watch you run and walk and point out what sneakers would be best for you. The best running shoes are Mizuno, Asics, Brooks, and Adidas.

How many pairs of running shoes should i have at once?

I run a few marathons per year. As you can imagine, I go through a lot of running shoes. Sometimes, I even get shoes for free. And yet I have never had more than two pairs of running shoes that I actively wore, and I think this is true for most people.

Every runner is different, and it really does not matter how many pairs you have, as long as you have one good one for the day that you're running. Some people recommend switching between two pairs of shoes so that you don't get used to running a single pair of shoes, thereby risking a overuse injury. Personally, I think that this is a propaganda started by shoe companies to sell shoes. By just running on different courses, you work different leg muscles.

Others have a pair of training shoes and race shoes. The training shoes are heavier, and they are used for your training runs. The race shoes are lighter performance shoes for your races. The idea is that when you train in heavier shoes, on race day when you wear the lighter shoes, you will be able to run faster. I tried this before, but I did not see a dramatic difference, and I rarely hear from anyone that this strategy works wonders.

In the end, the best strategy I settled upon is the following. I have a new pair of shoes and an older pair of shoes. When my new pair of shoes come close to retirement, it becomes my older pair of shoes and I get a new pair. My older shoes get donated to a charity at a local running store. By always having two pairs of shoes, I always ensure that if one pair becomes "un-runnable" (e.g., it becomes wet or dirty), then I can always wear the other ones.

I see no reason to have any more, and I have yet to hear a good reason for needing any more.

How many pairs of running shoes should i have at once?
Most I know have five, yes, five and they are the same make and they rotate it.
Reply:If you run track, I would have two. Spikes and tennis shoes. Also if you do both distance and sprints, you could have distance spikes and sprinting spikes, so 3.
Reply:3 seems like a good number. Because you don't have to worry about running out and getting some every time the shoes wear out. So good luck with the running.
Reply:Well, I would say two at a time would be enough...

This will ensure you that rain or shine, you will always have an extra pair of shoe...

Any recommendation for great running shoes(women)?

It depends on how your feet hit the floor.

Look at your shoes, how do you wear them out.

do you have pain when you run, in your heels, shins, back?

inside shin, outside shin?

The 3 main component of running shoes are stability, cushioning and arch support.

What I did is go to a top shelf running shoe shop like a "Foot Locker" where they sell shoes. tell the salesman what your specific needs are and he should prescribe a shoe thats best for your feet and running style.

--you dont buy the shoes there - too expensive, you just get your education there. I sugeest you go to 2 stores to make sure the salesman isnt trying to sell you their special of the week. Then go to the internet and search for the best price.

Any recommendation for great running shoes(women)?
I myself went shopping for running shoes a few weeks ago and at two stores, they recommended shoes with shox, (they look like little springs on the bottom). They feel good!
Reply:Why can't men answer this question? My sister runs in NIKE Floats. She claims its like running on clouds/marshmellows/waterbeds all combined together.
Reply:it depends on your feet....my wife had the herdest time finding the right pair she has a( wide foot) and the clerk suggested asics cause they genarally run a lil wider and they worked out just fine....with that being said i would go to a store that specializes in shoes like lady footlocker for example...you might pay a ll more there but they know what there talking about as well..good luck
Reply:nike shoxs are great shoes.
Reply:I've been searching for some myself the past few weeks and everyone I've talked to has said assics or brooks. It really depends on how much running you do and what you are comfortable in and how much you are willing to spend I think. You have to weigh up wether it is cheaper to buy those that take longer to wear out for a higher price or those that wear out quicker for a cheaper price and you have to consider the kind of support you need for the type of running you are doing.
