My Hus (a RN) wears running shoes to work. They smell like mildew. How can I get rid of that smell?

My hubby had the same problem. I took one of his socks and poured about a cup of baking soda into it, then tied the top of the sock up so it wouldn't spill out. I did this with two socks and put one in each of his shoes along with a dryer sheet. In a matter of hours the odor was gone and his shoes smelled like snuggle. I do it every night now when he takes his shoes. off.

Spray them with Lysol and leave them overnight on top of a heating vent. That's what I do.

Keeping them super dry will kill the germs. Germs need moisture to live and shoes are a good place for that.

Also you got to treat his feet too. You need the stuff that "cures athletes foot". If it doesn't say that than it won't work. Trust me I know!
Reply:Wash them in the washing machine...add a couple of tablespoons of bleach to the water.
Reply:Throw them out!! Big 5 has running shoes for as low as $15.
Reply:take some old socks, or nylon stockings %26amp; fill with activated carbon (they sell it in the pet/ fish department in big block stores) when he is not wearing his shoes, make sure the socks go inside the shoes, You can also get some odor eaters foot spray %26amp; shoe inserts that he can wear when he is using his sneakers.
Reply:Sprinkle baking soda in them when he takes them off. Shake it out in the morning.
Reply:two thingss get some dr scholls in soles for his shoes and secondnd spray of odor eater

odor is a sign of a possible fungus a trip to foot dr may be in order
