What are some good running shoes for someone who runs slightly on the outside of the foot?

I'm a begining runner and need support and cushioning. I've been getting arch pain with my older Nike Shox (they're past their prime anyway) and I noticed that I wear the outsides of my shoe sole just a little more than the insides, so I need something that is for average to slight under pronation (I think that's what it called.) I'd like to stay below $100 if at all possible.

Thanks!

I don't think anyone runs more than Marine Corps recruits in boot camp. They issued me a basic pair of New Balance all-purpose running shoes. I've been out of the military for 8 years now and i still run with new balance. My shoes are a little more stylish now, but i don't think you can beat them for price and versatility. Everyone i went to boot camp with had the exact same brand/style new balance shoe. I wont pretend to understand the physics of your feet, but if one shoe worked well with 90 people, running the same distances, the same pace, in the same conditions, i have to believe it will work for you. I will always run with New Balance. Good Luck.
Reply:Hi, Sara-

I have always had tremendous luck with anything New Balance makes. They make a great cross trainer and running shoe for under $50. I cannot remember the style number, but I can vouch for their quality. I have never had much luck with other name brands, such as Nike, Reebok, etc.
Reply:Go to a local running specialty store, and they will help you out much more than some giant retail store. Most of them have a great return policy, even after you have ran in them. Also, your feet swell when you run, so you actually may want to purchase 1-2 sizes bigger than your normal shoe size to compensate.
Reply:Try Fila...(www.zappos.com)
Reply:Much better to invest in good insoles. They'll be cheaper and you can transfer them to all your fav shoes.
Reply:People with a high arch, tend to supenate (run on the outside of their foot). I'd take your worn shoes into a running speciality store and see if they can help you out with makes %26amp; models. They'll probably recommend a cushioned shoe. Most of these stores are staffed by experienced runners...you can get a lot of great advice...and the right shoes. Best of luck!
