If you run about 3xweek for about 1/2 hr, do you still need to get running shoes?

isntead of regular fitness or tennis shoes

If you run about 3xweek for about 1/2 hr, do you still need to get running shoes?
An emphatic YES! Even if it's only 3 times a week, running subjects your joints to a lot of pounding, and the cushioning in running shoes will help prevent pain and injury. Regular fitness shoes aren't nearly as cushioned.
Reply:yes running shoes are made for going in vertical movements tennis shoes are made for going in horizontal movements

if your tennis shoes or fitness shoes dont bother you when you run and you dont want to spend the money, dont worry about it but otherwise i would
Reply:Absolutely, and you should go to a running specialty store to get fitted the first time rather than trying to find something on your own.

(You'll probably live if you don't get running shoes, but the difference in design, support, etc., can be significant.)
Reply:You will enjoy it more and then be encouraged to stay after it. There's a big difference between jogging shoes and tennis shoes. I might break an ankle in tennis shoes because I am clumsy and jog in the morning.
Reply:I would. They aren't absolutely nescassary but you'll be glad you did.
Reply:it would be better for you arches. you could get a injury. make sure that your shoes have good supports and fit you well. and you do not have to get expensive shoes. just make sure they fit and are well enough for you:]
Reply:Most definitely. Try to look for shoes that will give you plenty of comfort. It will pay off when you start going longer than 30 minutes
