Do you wear cleats or running shoes for sprints in the backyard ?
I would recommend just wearing running shoes. Save the spikes for the track.

you don't want to wear cleats out any faster than you have to, and you don't really need them if you're just practicing in your yard
spikes also aren't very good for your feet- that's why you're only supposed to wear them for competition. they don't have much padding or support
