How often should I change my running shoes?

I run 6 days a week, averaging 4.5 miles a day. I weigh 216, and am 6'3''.

How often should I change my running shoes?
every 6 months
Reply:I would track your mileage and change them about once every 300-500 miles but mine seem to last far beyond that. I guess it is because all I run are trails so my shoes last longer. So if you run the trails, mine usually fall apart after 700 miles.
Reply:wow... thats amazing... I used to change them once a year... but for you

i would every 3 months.... depending on what type of shoes u get some shoes are better after a month of running.. but FOUR AND A HALF MILES a day...wow..

heres an idea.....save u some money just go get new insoles for arch support
Reply:I would change them every 3 months. Given how much you run and how many miles you do. I also have to say I'm envious. Wish I could run a mile.
Reply:Every six months should be sufficient; no need to break the bank. I ran track and cross country long distance for four years in high school and they recommended that we replace our shoes twice a year. I would say my daily mileage was similar to yours and I had no problems or injuries with new shoes every 6 months. Be sure you buy quality running shoes with sufficient padding, though, for support.
Reply:i am 6'3" as well, and ill say 300-350miles to change your shoes. but actually its just when your body tells u its time. a lot of running injuries are cause of shoes. just pay attention to your body and you'll know but the 300 mile thing has worked for me thus far.

happy new year to all!!!
Reply:Hello! I have been running for 14 years, and I have lived by the following rule. My high school track coach told me that I should have as many pairs of shoes per year as days I run per week. For example, I run 6 days per week, therefore, I should have 6 pairs of sneaks per year, which breaks down to replacement every 2 months. Now, I run between 5 and 7 miles on most mornings, with a long run (12 + miles) on one weekend day. So, I probably wear shoes out due to high mileage more often than you, but you are bigger and that wears shoes, too. I would say change your shoes every 3 months and DO NOT wear them for anything else, like just walking around at the mall, etc. Your foot strikes the ground differently when you run and walk, so you should have sneaks dedicated to running if your finances allow.

Happy Trails!

Reply:I do every 3 months!
Reply:I try to replace mine every 500 miles.
Reply:Probaly every 6 months.
Reply:Hello,

I would change your shoes every 400-500 miles. I can usually feel the change in cushion and the increased pain in my joints around this time. This assumes that you use your running shoes ONLY for running. If you wear them around all the time, you may want to look at getting them replaced more often. Some shoes are more durable than others. Hope that helps. Happy running!

Reply:they say u should change ur shoes, like wear one pair for 3 days, and then switch with another for the other 4...this way your feet wont become dependable on one shoe...this weakens your feet.
