I'm taking up running and need to get advice on proper runners to suit my feet.

Yes, most major sports stores should help like Reebok, Foot Locker, maybe even Nike. I've only been in Dublin for three days, but I know there's a mall and large shopping area...around grafton street? Sorry, I can't remember.





They should test mostly your stability. People can be flat footed, high arched, low arched, etc. Depending on your arch, you have to pick what stability would be best for your foot type.





Also, make sure they consider your terrain. Will you be running in a park? on the streets? or in a woods? Certain brands of shoes and types are better for different running locations.





The biggest concerns are:





correct fit!!!! (heel doesn't slide in the back, and your large toe has a little room to breath. UNLESS, you are using this for sprinting. Sprinting shoes need to be tight.)





Support! If you have a high arch, you need a shoe with a high support.





Running Location! If you are running on trails and there's alot of rocks or even uneven pavement, you might want Impact Guidance System...which is basically a motion stabilizer.





I prefer Asics running shoes. I've worn them for 8 years now. Some shoe brands are better at certain sports than others. Nike is good for Basketball, Adidas for soccer, New Balance for hiking, etc.
